The King and Queen of Spain began their third day of the State Visit to Cuba by visiting El Templete de la Plaza de Armas, in Old Havana.

The monument was built in 1827 and memorialises the origin of the City of Havana five hundred years ago. It was the site of the first mass and town council of San Cristóbal de la Habana on 16th November 1519.

Their Majesties then toured the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, an 18th-century baroque building which is home to the Museum of the City of Havana.

From the president of the Provincial Assembly of Popular Power (Asamblea Provincial del Poder Popular), they received a 'La Giraldilla' figure - a tiny bronze statue of a female figure who keeps watch over Cuba's capital from atop a local landmark. It is the oldest symbol of Havana.

Later, Their Majesties awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Carlos III to the historian of the City of Havana, Eusebio Leal.

Another white summer dress repeat, it's not like Letizia to be quite so repetitive, but then I wasn't fond of this Dominguez dress the first time. It works in a holiday context, but not perhaps for a state visit

. I still suffer from the stigma the broderie anglaise fabric carried in my childhood of being distinctly on the cheap side. It's not the same now, of course, and items I have in my own summer wardrobe are much better quality work.. But it still can't hang well and while it's ok for a tourist museum trip I'm not sure it's up to an official presentation. Even the Magrit clutch and Sardinia wedges look sadder this time.

I agree with you, Bertie. This dress has a relaxed, summer look, but it is rather casual for a state visit. It is limp and boring. Letizia looks pretty, of course, but more in vacation mode, not "representing Spain" mode.

Limp is the very word!! I wouldn't have been brave enough to use it, thank you!!

they are visiting a country where food is rationed and people line every day to receive some, rice, beans, powder milk and a Cuban cigar, ( been there) so it’s not an occasion for too much formality or ostentation .
Less is definitely more. The Spanish acting socialist govermment has sent them there, the King can't decide...most people wonder what they are doing there with those ones, not the citizends poor peoole...if not the govermment.

So they are doing a great afford....

Also as the have no religion the have "santeros" they were to ceremony all in white, sorceres in English?

As far as I can see, Letizia didn't wear sunglasses today.

I really like this AD dress but I feel she should have worn this one yesterday and the Carolina Herrera one today especially for the Order ceremony. However, I do see that King Felipe wore a relaxed guayabera again. I expected both to have worn something a bit more formal for the presentation of the Order.

Everybody else is also dressed informally, including the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Cuban dignitaries, so what's the point?

A guayabera is considered very elegant in Cuba. It is their best outfit for the day. Also in Mexico. It is very hot and humiidity and a jacket would be too much. Every Country has different culture.

AD cotton dress is rather informal. I like this dress, but it is on the casual side.

In Cuba? Where I gave away all my clothes because people has not got any and a doctor gets 35 dolars per month ?In Spain we are very upset....with the acting govermment, not the King....
I am sorry but this is a place for a private vacations but not a State Visit....poor King!! Because if that a King of Spain has never been there,

I did not want to speak about it but....here most people is angry.

Simone, I think you got the point here. Probably she wouln't wear something so casual for state visit, if it is not Cuba.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Mary Rose! The princesses often borrow their mother's clothes, jewellery etc. I only wish this would help to ID them ;)

Watching the video has greatly improved my opinion of this dress, it's flattering and moves well. I quite like the purity of the very pared-back design, it's appropriate for humid weather and sensitive to the economic situation of many in Cuba.  Its been beautifully pressed and the belt starched, with the Queen's excellent poise she carries it well. Last time Letizia wore this piece, I noticed that there are darts either side of the buttons under the belt, a considered detail which draws in the piece defining her waist, with very little bulk of gathered fabric.
