Queen Letizia had a busy day of engagements on Friday. She first attended the #Femtástica project at Espacio Harley Ventas in Madrid which is an initiative by the Foundation Against Drug Addiction (FAD) and Samsung.

It aims to make female talent in the current digital landscape more visible and give a voice to women leaders in areas where there has traditionally been a gender gap.

Later in the day, Her Majesty joined King Felipe for a visit to Arganda Del Rey, which was one of the most affected areas in Madrid to have suffered from flooding on the 26th August and again almost three weeks later.

Together they were informed of the recovery effort and met with representatives of bodies who had assisted during the storm and helped with the clean up.

Yes, they are visiting all Spain....fires, floods...but we have no water enough, it rains terrible for two hours devastating all and stops.... next week they are visiting Orihuela as well....without abandom the rest ..
People is really thrilled with them...as we have an acting govermment now, nobody knows where the president of the goverment is....Felipe has took over .

I do not like this outfit too much but it is difficult, two different events in a day and she needed to change the shoes to wakk and trousers who admitted flats.....

Anyway she is gorgeous in a sheet...

Wendy, your comments are always interesting to read. I look at this blog for the clothes, but hearing more about the places Letizia is visiting and whether it is hot and so on, from someone there, adds a great deal. Thank you.

Many thanks, I try to give context, however Elizabeth and Jennifer explain the events perfect, at least a Spaniard would know everything. I notice they use Casa Real, so very accurate. I prefer this blog that some Spanish papers that tell the events but most of the time mix brands up and do not know if they are new, etc..

Ps: Casa Real is a Media Center . I sometimes have heard that they represent Casa Real....no! It is a state body to organise their work and the media.

They are non stop, 5 engagements per week and another 5 next time.
Also, Eva Fernández is pregnant...I do not know if she could help as always.

Don't like the top. Not sure about the pants. Love the SM heels. Although, wise to bring flats for walks about the public. Pic comforting baby is so precious. Good of them to be able to comfort and cheer on the public affected by the floods.

I don't care for this look. Yes, it is modern and happening, but too much so for royalty to wear. I've never liked shoes with clear plastic details, as I think it makes them appear inexpensive. The pants too are cheap looking. The top, is okay, but not the most flattering. This entire outfit is a miss for me.

I agree 100%. Not one of Letizia's best.

This ensemble works well for both events. It's youthful enough for the younger crowd at the technology engagement and the loafers make it practical for walking around Arganda Del Rey. Despite my quibbles, which will follow, I think the Queen looks relatable and fresh for the day’s agenda. Leather trousers are great! although I prefer them with a tiny bit more room in the leg. I don't like the gilet, I find the material thick and the shape too boxy, which is exaggerated by the long length and double breasted style. I've said many times before how I feel about the Steve Madden mules. This outfit works, but I think it could have been stronger. I find that leather trousers work best with slouchy sweaters and suede knee length boots (for winter), with silk blouses or quality tee shirts under blazers with structure or drape, or with a simple crisp shirt. All of these alternatives would have meant layering extra pieces onto the outfit and it appears to have been a warm day in Madrid. I did look through the Letizia's inventory of clothes and couldn't find anything more suitable that was similar in length and practicality. I did wonder if a pair of black slim cut crops, the Carolina Herrera tan suede sling-blacks and a black belted gilet from Mango would have worked for Femtástica. There is a nice trench inspired one on their website, it has a D-belt ring which defines the waist while adding detail - it's similar to a Stella McCartney waistcoat. Something like this may have looked modern and understated, but been more flattering proportion wise.

Jennifer I have found only these ones, very black though......
I'm afraid the trousers can't be worn with flats:

Hi Wendy, brilliant finds!! I had so much fun looking through them!! I think you have just created a far stronger look many times over :o) With these skin tight leather trousers she seems to favor a top that covers her bottom. So I was thinking a trouser like these (link below), I'm not sure if she has them or something similar. But the slim fit and ankle length would look stylish with both heels and flats. Of your finds, I particularly loved the black and white Carolina Herrera top (21/08/17) and the Hugo Boss white peplum 'Cherri' top (27/06/17) possibly with the black Carolina Herrera sling backs and flat black ballet pumps.

Jennifer, the black and white CH one would have been my cup of tea and then the Cherri top. Both of them are comfortable to both events. Obviously as she was to swap her shoes she neeeded slim cropped trousers, she must own many....

I think that last ones I put above and :

I like the Teddy boy vintage effect of the oversize gilet, especially with tight leggings. I think the slouchy sweater look with leather has been well used over time and I welcome Letizia working a new take on wearing them! The work you and Wendy do on alternatives is terrific, I only wish I had the time to stop and compare. But I'll bear it in mind, and hope to get back to them. Unless Letizia dashes out for another five engagements in a row meantime!

This outfit is a rare miss for me. Not keen on the pants, The top is modern enough but too baggy and too flattening. Lovely to see the King and Queen supporting and boosting morale for those affected by the floods.

The King wore jeans which is very odd.....very few times I have seen Felipe in jeans....they walked on ground..

Top is just ok. The pants never look good to me, bunching about the knees and shiny. Also they look hot and don't breath. I'd prefer black leggings if she must go in that direction, not leather. Shoes are duds; plastic is just junky regardless of initial cost. To sum up, a good (if you like it) casual about the house outfit only. Ditch the shoes.

I just adore this outfit, I love the oversized Massimo Dutti gilet which is perfectly proportioned for Letizia to wear without being smothered, and paired with those super-edgy leather Uterque leggings is just pure sass. Love how we see the outfit can take two such different footwear styles and look great with either. It's a fun modern outfit which can take on a range of events given the sober monochrome which keeps things professional for a more serious theme. Baby diamond studs are just right and hair is gorgeous.

I'm with you on this one Bertie. The event literally demanded a bit of leather because of who the organizers were. She's been accused of wearing too many form fitting garments so it's great to see her mixing it up. It's sassy, and since it has been seen before, not exactly unexpected. The change of shoe was necessary since they needed to walk on unpaved surfaces.
@Simone, in some of the king's semi formal appearances he wears jeans, white in summer, or dark, or faded at other times (fires in the canarias, hospital visits).

Zoe, very few times, all you said have been this year, in Spain we say he could be a bit less classic..

Wendy, you've done another stella job!! I'm going to go with 15/03/18 (link below) as they look just like the slim cut, ankle length, Hugo Boss ones. Plus they have no distracting details allowing you to focus solely on the top which is the statement piece of the outfit.  I think these trousers and either of the tops you found the CH black/white or HB 'Cherri' would have been stylish and a huge improvement on the gilet and leather trousers. Black Carolina Herrera sling backs and some pearl earrings to echo the white or gold Coolook hoops would have looked fab!

In Latin América they love this type of leather leggings, it is something they wear and Spain looks more to those Spanish speaking countries than English or Germanic ones....that's the point sometimes.

That's right Simone, it is our "Commonwealth". Felipe (as his father was) is called every time a President takes over in Mexico, Central America or South America to assist the event, many of them even can vote in our elections because their grandfather was a Spaniard ..
