I like the combination. The skirt is very nice. I hope the waistband is elastic because I once made the mistake of such a waistband not being elastic. Breathing was very difficult. ;-)

I always love when Letizia wears this skirt! It's such a classic style and I like how she changes it up with a different top each time. I also adore those Steve madden mules! I may just have to get myself a pair especially since they are on sale :) Thanks for all the product links Elizabeth. Love your blog xx

Sorry, I don't care for this look. The skirt seems to be very bulky with the huge pleats at the waist. The material is so stiff. The skirt looks like an amateur sewing project.

I like the top but the thick waistband on the skirt sits too high on Letizia's torso making her appear short waisted. It cuts her off almost under her bustline and it's not very flattering.

That waistband is called "fajín" in Spanish and it's very common in the typical Spanish costumes, also in men.....It is a very Spanish skirt....

Thanks so much for the cultural insight Sonia. All of a sudden I can see swaggering bullfighter costumes!

I think the skirt would match better with a white blouse with "jaretas", casing?? as the former time..

Senior officers of the Army, and the priest and bishops of the Catholic Church, also wear it...

I'm surprised how much I like this outfit having been a little underwhelmed by the earlier Hugo Boss separates. The top looks way better with a black skirt. I'm usually no fan of gathered skirt like these but I find this one fun, the extended waistband looks very smart, offsetting that stiff full skirt. It might be a bit strange when sitting down I imagine, there'd be fabric puffing up all round the wearer, but luckily we didn't face that here. The earrings are a brilliant match for tying the pink and black of the outfit together, and I just love those shoes

Steve Madden has another almost identical sandal on his US website called "Daydream" for USD 89.95 in black, blush and red and with a black sole as well.

I didn't realise SM had two similar models! I do believe Letizia wore the 'Plaza' model from the European SM line because her footbed lining is also black, whereas the "Daydream" style has a natural tone lining. Thanks for sharing these links xx

Beautiful. The top and skirt look made for each even though they are not. Classic style. The skirt highlights her perfect waist. Letizia makes it looks so easy to be stylish.
