This evening, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a reception for the Heads of State and government leaders participating in the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York
Queen Letizia looked stunning in a sparkly bespoke dress by Felipe Varela. The cocktail dress is rendered in silk and embellished with five different shades of blue Swarovski crystals which create a tonal gradient effect.
The dress has an off the shoulder neckline and is finished with cap sleeves. The neckline resembles this ready-to-wear piece from Varela's Winter 2013/14 collection
Doña Letizia coordinated the dress with a new pair of Magrit black satin heels featuring a peep-toe opening and single cross-over strap. She also owns a similar style in blush pink which she debuted in Paris in July. The shoes are a bespoke version of the sandals below.

Tonight, she wore her hair up and showed off an impressive pair of aquamarine teardrop earrings.
The earrings were a gift from Italian jewelery house, Bvlgari following the birth of Letizia's first daughter, Leonor. Here we see Letizia wear them to a formal function in May 2006.
