I like the cape and I like the dress with its frayed details, although I wish the hemline of the dress didn't come to a point. I think asymmetrical and handkerchief hemlines look best if the fabric is soft and flowing. This heavier material makes the point too pronounced. I did observe in the first photo, that the cape's point was echoed by the dress' point. The snakeskin shoes and purse are quite wonderful. I don't care for Letizia's earrings, finding the pearl drop to be too large.

Since they were tiny girls, I have admired the outfits of the two princesses. They always look age appropriate and so stylish. When they were younger, they were often dressed the same, Now they have individual ensembles, but they always coordinate so beautifully.

Leonor and Sofía have never been dressed the same, always coordinated esembles. It is the first time the coat is the same.

Beg to differ, Simone, but there are many examples of the two girls dressed the same. Google this and other image sites.

Lovely look! The princesses are gorgeous, just like the mother! Maybe you will consider starting a blog about them too :)

Yes, Leonor's is the Princesa of Asturias' one. Sofia's is Roncesvalles' one

I love the cape and I love the dress. But I don't love both pieces worn together. The unstructured and loose fit of the cape clashes with the asymmetrical hemline of the skirt creating a messy look.
Tiny Letizia is swallowed up by all that fabric wrapped around her.
I was surprised to see the young ladies attend this event because it seems very serious for their age group & they had to be dragged out of school.

Sandy, Leonor is the Crown Princess and Sofia the "spare". This is their school. Leonor is not going to work for a private company and she is 14 already, if something happened (no, please!!), she could be the Queen in 4 years, she needs to be prepared. She had even a cold and attended.

I will avoid all the political issues they suffered yesterday, this is a tricky country for the Monarchy.

I am not a fan of the pointed hemline of the dress. IMO it's too dramatic for the otherwise simplicity of the dress. Fyi, Naturalizer has a python print pump very similar to the Sam Edleman one shown for less. As a matter of fact, I'm wearing them today! :)

I love this outfit. The first pic is divine, both dress and cape blended and were on point. The cape is quite something, looks so elegant and classy. The dress is unusual, but the Queen wears it with style. Love the pearl drop earrings. The studded snakeskin accessories are a brilliant touch. The Princess's look beautiful in their outfits, lovely.

I don't like this look at all. The hemlines don't match even though they are similar. A cape is a more casual garment I think. I wish QL would return to the more structured silhouettes she used to wear!

I have a few thoughts regarding Monday's outfit. I like the dress and cape, but not together. Ideally, I feel this style should be worn with a coat longer than the hemline of the dress, or a neatly cropped jacket, finishing just below the waistband. For me, there is too much fabric with two asymmetrical hemlines, combined they appear boxy and clumsy. In general, I am tired of uneven hemlines, but the purity of this dress is beautiful. Fit is perfect, the piece skims her figure. The winter white skirt hangs stunningly well, with the longest point slightly off centre, which adds a natural elegance to the clean lines, hovering just above her right ankle while leaving the left bare. Lightly frayed edges provide a delicate frothiness to the ensemble which is cleverly offset by the studded snakeskin accessories and harsh black inserts of the clutch. The pearls are regal, the larger size feels contemporary against the stark white, diamonds set in white gold/platinum echo the silver trimmings on the pumps, which glisten against the light.

The fit of this dress is a hallmark of Varela. The fabric is similar to that of Leonor's dress in Covadonga. True to her style, a seemingly simple dress ends on a dramatic note with the pronounced asymmetrical hem. The cape was the perfect choice because of the point, but the overall effect does look bulky. That said she looks wonderful, as do the girls.

The new cream dress is cool, elegant, and lovely on its own, I'm not so sure about a matching asymmetric cape over the top, it looks a bit contrived, though I admit I'd be hard put to know what else she might have done.

I suppose I must be used to the asymmetric hemlines on dress-only events, and not so much those involving coats as well. That must be the point at which funky becomes just plain awkward.

I'm not a fan of fur trims in general, faux or otherwise, but this is managed with Letizia's customary discretion. It's very clever to have produced a side-part up-do adding its own asymmetric edge, and her earrings are spot on.

I like the frayed edges on the dress adding a little edge, and the snakeskin accessories are the right amount of pattern contrast. Overall, the outfit is very well done, t's just my own private quibbles that trouble me!

The cape and dress combination is not the best but I like the way the asymmetrical hems of the two pieces align. The dress is gorgeous and I do hope we find out who designed it!

I love how the line of the cape follows the line of the dress. Amazing.

Greetings,
Without a doubt Queen Letizia has the most exquisite taste in clothing whatever the circumstances she has found herself in and the exceptionally close bond in their Team of four exudes grace, compassion, strength and fortitude which makes the clothing secondary to those of whom this Royal Family is ultimately responsible for. This for me is a beacon of light in what has become a scary and heartbreaking world for so many.
