Queen Letizia debuts Is Coming label for the opening of the 'Goya' exhibition in Switzerland8/10/2021
The Queen of Spain travel to Switzerland on Friday to inaugurate the 'Goya' exhibition at the Beyeler Foundation in Basel.
The exhibition is organised by the Fondation Beyeler in collaboration with the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid. During Her Majesties visit, she received a guided tour by the exhibition's curator, Martin Schwander. The exhibition will run from the 10th October 2021 - 23rd January 2022.
Francisco de Goya (1746-1828) was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker. He is considered the most important Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His paintings, drawings, and engravings reflected contemporary historical upheavals and influenced important 19th & 20th - century painters. Goya is often referred to as the last of the Old Masters and the first of the Moderns.
The exhibition brings together approximately 70 paintings and more than 100 masterful drawings and prints. For the first time, seldom seen paintings from Spanish private collections are shown alongside key works from the most prestigious European and American museums and private collections. The exhibition is accompanied by a new film by contemporary French artist, Philippe Parren, who documents Goya's fourteen 'Pinturas negras' (Black paintings).
Queen Letizia debuted separates by Spanish brand, Is Coming. She coordinated a green blouson sleeve wool sweater with a brocade pencil skirt. The Madrid based label launched in 2019 with a focus on 'slow fashion' and suitability. Constan Hernández is the creative soul of the brand, who founded his first firm called Hoss Intropia in 1994.

The ensemble's sophisticated mix of textures and autumnal palette feels apt for a gallery visit abroad. The skirt fits beautifully, its column-like silhouette adds elegance to the opulent pattern and fuzzy knit. Sadly, I have a few minor quibbles, but overall the outfit is a success. I prefer the sweater worn over the skirt like the stock image above. The result is effortless with the slight overhang of the sweater and the model's proportions appear balanced. The Queen has pulled the sweater taught under the skirt. In doing so, I find the outfit incomplete. I wonder if a waist belt would bring the look together, in either mink to match the accessories, or a slightly darker hue of the misty-green. (I don't think the ensemble requires a waist belt if the sweater is worn over the skirt like the stock image above.) Unfortunately, by raising the sleeves, the cuffs are most likely stretched and I doubt they will sit snugly around the wrists again. Stylistically, I appreciate that the three-quarter length provides some breathing space and prevents Letizia from appearing too covered up. The Magrit accessories are gorgeous and complement the painterly florals perfectly. A simple updo may have lifted the look and shown off the stunning citrine drop earrings to full effect.

I love the colours in this interesting skirt/sweater combo and find the brocade skirt to be very elegant. The texture of the sweater puzzles me, as it looks like the wool has pilled, as happens when wool is old and washed many times. The accessories are not the most cohesive. I can't see a mauve tone in the skirt and think that Letizia's pewter shoes and purse would have been a better choice. Also why citrine earrings when there is no yellow in the outfit?

The original Is Coming styling for this coordination has everything with the ribbed waist of the top over the top of the brocade skirt, plus the matching long cuffs fully visible. Letizia has opted for her own upgrade on this debut outing and compared with the studio shot it appears to fall flat. The jumper tucked in and the sleeves pushed up make a less flattering outline.

Head to toe this is my style so I can't complain. I'd wear the sweater untucked like the model because I can't afford the extra bulk in the midsection but QL doesn't have this problem.

I thought the Queen looked good in this pencil skirt! I personally think a silk top in the same color would have looked better or I would have preferred she wore the sweater out like the model since it it has elastic around the bottom. I thought the accessories were bronze, but they seemed to complement the outfit nicely.

It seems we rarely see Letizia wearing sweaters. As a sweater lover I'm so happy to see this one. I love the colour but I prefer the sleeves worn as shown on the model. They look too bulky rolled up at the elbow. Nonetheless, it looks superb with the beautiful brocade skirt.

I love this outfit, the mix of colours and pattern, texture of the skirt especially is divine. This jumper is the perfect choice. I don't like it tucked in, the way the model is wearing looks stunning and more polished. The up do on the model takes the overall effect up a notch, I prefer this look. I do love the accessories, gorgeous shade, though Bertie mentioned soft grey and I think that has great merit. The earrings I am not a fan of. Regardless of my quibbles the Queen looks fabulous, well groomed and elegant.

I looked the temperature up in Switzeland and they have 10C in the afternoon, 2C in the morning, so she needed a sweter at least.

What a lovely outfit. Sleek and sophisticated, with gorgeous autumn colours. One of my faves, I particularly like the skirt.
