The Matadero Madrid is located in the old slaughterhouse and cattle market of the city. It is an enclosure of great heritage and architectural value that hosts an extensive program around cinema, the performing arts, design, music, the world of books, and the visual arts. During the pandemic, a great effort was made to offer online programming in order to boost the center's social networks.

Queen Letizia stepped out in a new Massimo Dutti V-Neck Dress with Belt (€79.95).  The dark blue flared knit dress features an A-line fit, with a ribbed bodice, v-neck, and tie-up belt.

She also debuted a new pair of Carolina Herrera python slingbacks. Letizia owns this classic style in a number of fabrics and colourways.

It's hard to say for certain due to lack of clear photos, but it appears Queen Letizia may have worn her Gold & Roses Double Dagger Earrings.

Such a simple classic dress but looking terrific on Letizia, and an amazing bargain. I love how her inner vamp is being channelled through snakeskin slingbacks! An excellently judged contrast to the sober blue of the dress. Happy to see dagger earrings as we leave behind the faithful lockdown studs, for now.

I like the dress. It simple but elegant and the shade of blue is very pleasing. Although I like the shoes, I don't think they go well with this dress. Surely a navy shoe would have been a better choice.

I think this dress is gorgeous. Everything from the deep 'V" neckline, to the tie at the waist and beautiful sapphire blue colour.
And I agree with Bertie that the price is a bargain. I have always felt you don't have to spend a fortune to look great. Especially if you have Letizia's figure. It's so encouraging to see the King and Queen back to their royal duties with some semblance of normalcy.

I am delighted to see the return of snakeskin pumps!  They elevate a minimal ensemble. Furthermore, they act as a neutral to most shades and provide a textural contrast to one tone looks. The Massimo Dutti dress is timeless.  I'm often critical of the Queen's high street choices but this piece fits beautifully, and the deep blue looks wonderful on her, highlighting the elegance that can be achieved at a lower price point. Side seams traverse inwards sculpting the bodice, and the neckline border extends into the center front, providing subtle interest to the ribbing. The wide matching belt adds a crispness to the soft fabric of the flared skirt, while subtly defining the waist.

Thank you for such an insightful comment, I knew I liked the dress but my brain was too fogged to work out why! I'd managed to miss the clever use of ribbing and of course it's the neckline border extending centre-front which adds subtle class to the detailing of a Massimo Dutti bargain.

I'm delighted, naturally, that you share my own enthusiasm for those snakeskin pumps. I completely failed to realise they are one of the same CH style we've seen already from Letizia in plain shades, the snakeskin is the perfect decoy to my eyes and I think the texture contrast is perfect with the deep navy. Matching navy shoes would have been a bit heavy looking in my estimation.

Hi Bertie, I agree that navy would have been too heavy. Several years ago I remember the Queen frequently wearing snakeskin pumps, I'm hoping that this is the revival of them in her wardrobe! I adore the Carolina Herrera slingback, I now associate the style with Letizia as many royal ladies wear the Gianvito Rossi pump (which is gorgeous) or similar. Manolo Blahnik is Spanish, so I am surprised that we haven't seen the iconic 'Carolyne' slingback which has been in production for over 30 years. Sorry if I've gone off on a tangent again here!

Not a tangent to far for me, I can think of few things more pertinent than a disussion of shoes! I thought Letizia had been pretty consistent with her fondness for snakeskin pumps, I'd failed to notice a lapse, I was certainly struck how different this pair of slingbacks looked from the plain ones, so that I didn't realise it was the same style.

It's such a clever design with the wide back strap growing out of the sole rather than extending from the toe piece. Was Blahnik the pioneer of the idea (thanks for link) It's curious how the strap looks wide enough to imply the full heel of a shoe rather than the thin strap that typifed early slingbacks.I like the sleek CH take, and it's nic it should be a Letizia signature, where many royals stick to those handy classic Rossi pumps.

Hi Bertie, I had a quick look to see if I could find who initially designed the iconic slingbacks and I have come up short apologies! My gut instinct, Manolo Blahnik. Blahnik is a long-term collaborator of Carolina Herrera, in addition, in 2016 he gave an interview where he said that 'Carolina Herrera has always loved that shoe' - the 'Carolyne'. The CH slingbacks are significantly cheaper than the MB's which may explain why we've only seen the former. Thank you for humouring me with all of this :o).

Thank you Jennifer for my tutorial in slingbacks! The Blahniks I saw were too decorated for my taste, I'll stick with budget-friendly CH! 😉

I love this outfit. Beautiful shade of blue but such an elegant streamlined dress. The fit and length is perfect. I particularly like the ribbing of the bodice, for me it adds to the appeal of the dress. The contrasting python singback's are fabulous, nearly as much as the dagger earrings. Definitely a bargain outfit, its so affordable another reason for me to love it!

So happy to see you back, Ava, this is getting to be like old times! As ever, I admire the wealth of observation you pack into an economy of words. Unlike some of us!

Hi Bertie, how lovely, thank you. Yes, its great to get back into the swing of things. Bertie, growing up I learned very early in the piece, to be heard, I had to keep it short but sweet, the condensed version. Unfortunately that has never left me - Lol ! Keep safe and take care.

I was taught about 'short and sweet' too, but alas any good habits I had have been much eroded by my online life!
