The 5 day event will bring together more than 9,000 companies from 165 countries with 200,000 visitors.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia opened the 39th edition of the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) in Madrid today.
The 5 day event will bring together more than 9,000 companies from 165 countries with 200,000 visitors.
Their Majesties toured the halls and met with some of the exhibitors of the fair.
Sartorially speaking, Letizia typically plays it safe for this annual event, and usually opts for a pant suit.
Today the Spanish Queen mixed it up with a interesting new blouse and checked handkerchief skirt.
The top is the Massimo Dutti Limited Edition Silk Blouse With Pleated Capelet (£79.99 / SOLD OUT) from the brand's Fall 2018 Limited Edition collection. The blouse with pleated capelet detail, made of 100% mulberry silk, features a straight fit, a round neckline, single-button fastening at the back and long puff sleeves.
Letizia teamed it with a new skirt also by the Spanish high-street label. The Massimo Dutti Pointed Check Wool Skirt (£89.95) in a toffee hue has an A-line silhouette and is fashioned with an asymmetric hemline.
She highlighted the outfit with her brown Hugo Boss 'Luxury Staple C' leather clutch bag (US$595), and on her feet, Letizia wore were her Magrit 'Laura' pumps in custom camel leather.
She added a romantic touch to the ensemble with her Tous 'New Romance' earrings, first worn for an audience hearing in July 2018.

Another great look! I would have preferred if the skirt didn't have the asymmetrical hem, but overall a very professional and stylish look.

Ha ha! In the last post I thought I'd died and gone to sartorial heaven but this ensemble is a disaster for me. I think a handkerchief hem always looks sloppy. I know it's in style but I don't have to like it. The blouse with the caplet reminds me of a costume for an old fashioned barn dance and I don't like 'peasant' styles. So, I'm going to click back on my browser and gaze some more on the diplomatic corps ensemble ;-)

I always want to like what the Queen is wearing but sadly this is a rare miss for me. I am not the hugest fan of any of these pieces individually (other than the shoes) I think the skirt would have looked better had it been styled in a similar way to the Massimo Dutti look book, with knee length boots and a chunky knit. I'm hoping for a possible re-wear of the skirt with an oversized turtleneck sweater from Hugo Boss.

White blouse and statement skirt is a signature Letitia look that I have embraced in the last couple of years. It does a lot for her and I believe also for myself. Thank you, Letitia!

I love the skirt with the asymmetrical hem but since it is kind of wild I would have paired it with a more simpler top, blouse or jacket. This blouse with the bib is just too much next to the skirt and it's a bit busy. The way it's displayed on the model with the white sweater and boots is a much better look.

Do brown and grey match? I'm not sure I like the pairing of the camel colored shoes and purse with the grey skirt. I do like the skirt, unique and different, but I would not have worn it with the blouse, which is also unique and different. Too much going on there.

In fact the skirt is Toffe colour as the web points out.

Leti looks lovely as usual, but I am really not a fan of these kinds of hems because from my experience, they get super wrinkly super fast, even if you sit for 5 minutes.

This outfit doesn't quite gel for me, I like its component parts but they're not so good together, though the Dutti pieces are clearly very good value for the money. But overall I feel there's too much fabric flopping loose on both the outsize blouse mantle and on the asymmetric skirt hem, and I find the skirt waist seems to ride too high, possibly an effect created by the deep blouse mantle. The skirt colour is very pale against the white blouse and Letizia herself looks a little washed-out while she favours a paler make-up style. I love those Magrit shoes, but they can't really shine in this context.

I agree in general, both pieces are superb, however together they do not lit up.
