On the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the Proclamation of King Felipe VI, Their Majesties accompanied by their daughters, Leonor, Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía, awarded decorations of the Order of Civil Merit in the Hall of Columns, at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
The Order of Civil Merit was instituted by King Alfonso XIII, by Royal Decree on June 25, 1926, to reward "the civic virtues of officials at the service of the State, as well as the extraordinary services of Spanish and foreign citizens in the good of the Nation". This year's citizens were recognised for their personal commitment and social contribution, in a time marked by the pandemic.
Following the ceremony, Their Majesties, the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía went to the Hall of Halberdiers, where a group photograph was taken with the citizens who had received the Order of Civil Merit. The Spanish Royal Family, later held a meeting with the winning children of the school contest 'What is a King for you?'
Queen Letizia premiered a fuchsia pink dress by Moises Nieto for the occasion.
This is the first time we have seen Her Majesty wear a piece by the Madrid-based fashion designer. The eponymous womenswear label was founded in 2011, and Moisés Nieto's designs are defined by his fusion of Spanish craftsmanship and attention to detail with a sense of refined taste. The €390 fit-and-flare midi dress from the SS21 collection is currently available in navy and red.

Moises Nieto's dress is a cool and elegant addition to the Queen's wardrobe. The exposed shoulder detail is a contemporary slant on the traditional midi dress. The bodice fits beautifully and the flared skirt gathers weight from the tops of the thighs down, keeping the waistline perfectly smooth. Bare wrists echo the hint of skin at the neckline, with the French sleeves providing a breathing space from the glorious fuchsia hue. In the future, I hope we see more custom garments from this brand. Hallmarks of clean lines, impeccable tailoring and soft crepe could rival pieces from a designer such as Emilia Wickstead, for approximately a third of the price. Nude slingbacks were a safe choice. Letizia will undoubtedly repeat this dress, a bold pair of pumps may make for an exciting stylistic statement. The chrysoprase earrings are stunning against the fuchsia hue. On a colour wheel, emerald green and fuchsia pink are on opposite sides - the combination provides high contrast which makes colours appear more vibrant. At the Governors Awards in 2014, actor Emily Blunt, wore a fabulous fuchsia Michael Kors gown. To this day, the gown is still the best example I have seen of a fuchsia and emerald mix.

This is a beautifully cut dress with gorgeous splash of colour. Its very elegant and feminine looking, the skirt flows perfectly. I particularly like the neckline. Love the colour choice of her shoes.

This dress is gorgeous and beautiful an every respect- colour, design, and fit. I love the dress in every colour shown. It's interesting that Letizia seems to be favouring bright pink lately. The nude shoes are perfect for summer and provide some interesting contrast.

Thanks for the feedback Sansa. I normally try to add information about the princesses dresses (when available) but on this occasion I was time poor and rushed to get the post up.

I'm afraid this Moises Nieto dress has somehow sidestepped the attempt at minimal chic and landed dangerously close to boring. The fit seems loose and so the hem looks a bit long. There's an attempt to liven things up with the asymmetric bateau neckline, but I fear it's lost in a sea of monochrome and plain-ness. The unadorned waistline does it no favours, and the best part of the outfit for me are the lovely two-tone Tous earrings. I'd have thought Letizia was trying to fade into the background against her daughters, both of whom look lovely, but then she has picked out such a vibrant colour. I think this one needs a re-wear and accessories upgrade. Her nude Herrera slingbacks add to the heaviness of the skirt by almost disappearing into the carpet. My apologies to the lovely Queen, I hate criticising her!
