The King and Queen of Spain are currently on a State Visit to Sweden between the 23rd-25th November.  In the morning, Their Majesties travelled to the Royal Stables in Stockholm and were received by King Carl XVI Gustaf, and Queen Silvia, of Sweden.

This was followed by the official welcoming ceremony, where both monarchs reviewed the Grenadier Guards of the Life Guards and the national anthems were performed.
Inside the Palace, Their Majesties received greetings from Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden. Then, in the Lovisa Ulrika Hall, King Felipe VI spoke a few words of greeting.

In the afternoon, Their Majesties visited the Nobel Prize Museum where they toured the exhibition 'Synapses: Science and art in Spain from Ramón y Cajal to the 21st century'.
Following this engagement, Queen Letizia, accompanied by Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria, visited Karolinska University Hospital, where they held a meeting with representatives of organisations of Rare Diseases, spinal cord damage and organ selective endovascular therapy. The Karolinska Institute (KI) is Sweden's largest academic medical research centre, offering the widest range of medical courses and programs in the country.

The queen looks lovely as always, but the headband isn’t the best look for her. They don’t suit anyone, but that’s my opinion only.

We hardly ever get to see Letizia in headwear, and this is a good look for her. I love the cape too. Thanks for the posts!

Interesting color combination (something similar seen recently also at the DoC [1]), not often used.
A bizarre make-up: too heavy, a shade that matches ... the gloves(??). A case where make-up ended up spoiling the natural beauty instead of emphasizing it, from where I'm standing. Rarely an issue w/ QL.

A memorable look, for both bad and good reasons :D.

PS. SO glad you are back, Elizabeth. One can see photos in all places of course, but there is smth special in having a detailed overview in one place, and then reading well-supported opinions on it.

This is a stunning outfit. The CH Wool dress, unusual in its cut, looks fabulous, the colour, I love. I like the length of this dress very much. The camel cape is a gorgeous addition. The leather camel gloves, divine! The CH pumps and bag are wonderful additions. Earrings are subtle. I don't like headbands, but regardless of my tastes, the Queen looked beautifully groomed, chic and elegant.

I favour clean lines, so sadly, this ensemble doesn't appeal to me. However, I hope others enjoy it! The colour combination is beautiful but as a whole, I find the outfit overly fussy and a little ageing. My main issue is that the cape has no structure and looks untidy. I also dislike fur trims. I would have styled the dress with either a custom-made mid-length cape that has a straight hemline with an attached panel that drapes around the neck and over the shoulder; or a custom-made coat in a similar silhouette to the dress (cocoon 3/4 length sleeves, crew neckline, fitted waist and a tulip skirt an inch longer than the dress) in a contrasting colour. Along with a neat French twist hairstyle. In regards to the accessories, I can't move past the platforms on the pumps. And although the bag is gorgeous, I strongly dislike the Carolina Herrera logo (used modestly, some logos are beautiful, the Loewe anagram and the Chanel 'double C' are works of genius).

Special mention to Queen Silvia, who looks wonderful in magenta. All be it a longer version, the clean silhouette of Her coat is reminiscent of dreamy '60s Christian Dior coats by Marc Bohan, J'adore!

I agree with all you say, Jennifer. This is one of my least favourite looks for Letizia. I'd call this a hot mess, as it is cluttered looking. The headpiece does not suit her. The cape has no structure and looks like a blanket. The fur collar is fussy and not environmentally appropriate, The platforms on the shoes are awful. And unusual for Letizia, her makeup is too heavy. The look is slightly better with the removal of the cape, except for the exaggerated sleeves.

I failed to connect with this outfit when I first saw two months ago, and it is still failing to register with me now. I very much like the orange-red with creamy-tan colour combination, and I can just about accept a cape as a change from coats, but I start to waver with the fur collar and headband combined. I'm not a big fan of either and combined they strike me as fussy and a touch matronly. However, it is all good for making a style statement as is appropriate with state visit portraits.

I want to like the Caroline Herrera dress which looks so elegant in the studio shot, but the kimono sleeves look as if they prove a bit too much of a good thing as the fabric is quite stiff and seems to bulk up awkwardly when Letizia is in action. The new CH satchel bag is bang on trend and divine, and I love the ladylike gloves held with it, and salute the classic court shoes. The Yanes earrings are lovely.
