The Spanish Royal Family attended the second day of events for the 10th anniversary of the Princess of Girona Foundation (FPdGi) at the Palacio de Congresos de Cataluña in Barcelona.
They participated in the 'El talento atrae al talento' (talent attracts talent) workshops which offer a program of activities that focus on some of the main challenges of our society: sustainability, employment, critical thinking, and equal opportunities, among others.
The day ended with the Royal Family holding an audience with the mentors of 'Rescatadores de talento' (Talent Rescuers) which promotes the employability of people between the ages of 20-30 years.
Queen Letizia made a surprising designer debut for the final day in Barcelona. She donned a coordinating leopard print blouse and skirt by British fashion designer, Victoria Beckham.
The navy and white separates consist of a long sleeve twill shirt (RRP $825 - now $495) and a silk midi skirt (RRP $1,395 - now $697.50). The pieces are part of the Resort '19 collection.
Letizia added her red Carolina Herrera slingback suede pumps for a pop of colour.
She harmonized the ensemble with her navy and red Caroline Herrera 'Baret' flap clutch bag.
Letizia finished the look with her bezel set diamond stud earrings.

Surprise! I'm not a fan of wearing animal prints head to toe, and I'm not a fan of Victoria Beckham design at all, but this looks really good on QL.

How exciting to see the Queen showcase Victoria Beckham, this is the second recent British brand following the Temperely London dress worn in South Korea. In general, I am not a fan of animal prints, but this is a striking ensemble which looks expensive, with the abstract design of leopard textures, in the sophisticated colour-way of white/silver and navy. The silk fabric hangs beautifully, the panels and subtle asymmetrical hemline add movement to the piece. There is red top stitching which defines sections of the skirt, the slingbacks echo the colour perfectly, but I find the clutch a little contrived. Overall, I would have preferred the gorgeous navy Magrit Claudia slingbacks (worn on 01/02/18) and no bag. If a clutch was necessary, perhaps something in stark white would have felt more contemporary against the busy print. The bezel-set diamond studs are a chic compliment, I'm relieved to see these added to her rotation of simpler earrings, rather than the more twee options within her collection. Minor quibble, It's a shame that the white zip at the back of the skirt isn't more concealed, at this price point it should be less visible.

Jennifer, I didn't realize there was top stitching in red on the skirt, until I enlarged the picture many times. It is very subtle. Not sure that I agree with your choice to have Letizia with a white clutch. In North American wearing white accessories is not common as winter approaches. Perhaps it is different in Spain.

The red stitching is much more visible if you click on the link to the studio shots. There's even a close-up of part of the pattern to show you, though I might not have looked without Jennifer's prompting!

Laura, they are in Barcelona where it is still around 18 degrees in the afternoon and sunny so...it is the Mediterranean part, they even are very edgy about clothes....Madrid is more classic in general.

Hi Laura and Bertie, the red top-stitching is very fine, just a line here and there over some of the panels. I find brilliant white quite luxurious in the colder months, but I appreciate that it is usually associated with warmer weather. I was just envisaging the ensemble with more impact. It was a clever idea to fold up the sleeves, creating some breathing space at the arms from the heavy print. A few posters have mentioned wearing the set separately. In another image, I saw the shirt styled with wide-leg navy trousers and tan accessories which looked elegant for a repeat idea.

Crumbs, that was a brilliant spot you made of the red stitching, it really ties the whole thing together. I'm not sure about a white clutch with this, a bit too loud in a way, the navy with red detail seems nicely judged to me. Agree wholeheartedly about how the studs have extra chic which more twee selections lack!

I thought Letizia was wearing a dress, but separates are more versatile. I do think there is just too much print and the dress swamps Letizia.

I didn't find this take on the outfit swamping having seen Beckham herself wear something much more enormous and swamplike when it all first came out! Letizia is quite cautious by comparison :) I would agree that a loose shirt with full skirt is still a lot of fabric to contend with on which we naturally have individual views.

I would have liked to have seen the blouse paired with a solid colour navy skirt or the skirt paired with a solid colour navy blazer or blouse. Wearing the two pieces together is way too busy and hard on the eyes. I really like the outfits worn by Leonor and Sofia. Horizontal stripes are always in style.

Sandy, I think Leonor and Sofia always look so well put together. We could almost have a blog about their outfits, now that they are out and about more. Such perfect, little princesses they are!

Laura, I sometimes hesitate to comment on Leonor and Sofia's appearance because they are so young and I would hate to put pressure on them at this stage. I only say positive things and refrain from any criticism.

Good point about the pressure, Sandy. I'll bear that in mind. I was commenting because they are clearly exercising more individual choice thus stepping into the fashion arena, but I agree it's good to shield them for as long as possible.

Hmmm, no. I don't like it. I've tried for the last couple of days to wait to see if my initial dislike would change. Nope, didn't happen.

I think the shirtdress style looks great on Letizia, however, this print is a bit too busy for my liking... it would have been great in a knee-length or full-length style and a solid color like the dark blue and light blue ones she owns. And, as I always say, I am a big fan of this makeup look! Especially in the last photo here, you can see the beautiful glowy look.

I was bowled over to see Letizia make a foray into experimental Beckham territory, I remember this style of outfit from the collection, though I think Letizia has a more toned down version. But the mixed pattern print is just amazing and, of course, tailor made for Letizia and her love of monochrome. That Herrera slingback style remains a firm favourite with me and with the red in that, and the two-tone CH clutch, are inspired accessorising. The diamond studs are a sound pick, enough sparkle but nothing dominating. Love the girls in their pants and complementary stripey tops.

Victoria Beckham has expressed her gratitude to Letizia for wearing her clothes: I think they know each other as the Beckhams were living in Madrid when David played in Real Madrid.

Maybe you could be interested in knowing who is the haidresser...Luz Valero ( In Spain we pronounce "z" as your "th"...., so the pronounciation of her name would be as "Looth" for you, not "Lus"...)

Wendy, I worked for a Spanish family many years ago and I remember the "th" sound for "z". So how would Letizia Ortiz be pronounced? Is it Letithia Ortith? .

I am not normally a fan of animal print, but this is an exception. I love this look. The combination of silk skirt and shirt, stunning. The shoes and two tone clutch is divine. Diamond stud earrings, subtle perfect choice.
