When I saw the initial photographs from this event on CasaReal twitter my excitement sank, this dress hasn't grown on me since it's last wear. I still have all the same issues as last time, the crushed fabric, the dark print and the belt not remaining in place - but the length is lovely and it was an affordable price. All of the accessories are different from it's last outing but the overall look is very much the same. Last time a red clutch worked well, I wonder if an off white clutch or tan leather shoes/clutch set might have brightened things up. I do love these Carolina Herrera slingbacks and the Tous gold studs are a refreshing choice, simple and chic, maybe a soft messy bun would have differentiated the look more from its last appearance. Sadly, I find Massimo Dutti very hit and miss, particularly their dresses, this and the grey wool check dress fell flat for me. I think their best pieces are the stylish separates, the linens, flat sandals etc.

I forgot to comment on the fashion flashback which consists of two great looks! The Hugo Boss sheath was a clean and summery choice. I would love to have seen the dress styled with pale blue pumps to bring out the blue within the print. Overall, I think it was nicely put together with the belt defining her waist and the Yanes flower earrings adding polish. I simply adored the super chic bob hairstyle too. I preferred the Carolina Herrera dress at it's original runway length and with the third black stripe across the abdomen. Letizia certainly has the pose and the fashion credentials to carry the mid length style with aplomb. White shoes have a bad reputation in the UK, but I think they would have looked daring and paired perfectly with the crispness of the dress. I would have also have chosen simple diamond studs and let the dress command the attention it deserves.

Jennifer, I'm glad you mentioned the Hugo Boss "Dinoma" sheath dress because that is one of my absolute favorites. Letizia wore it a lot back in the day sometimes with white blazers. It looks gorgeous because the print is so eye catching and artistic. It would look spectacular with a navy blazer too. I don't normally like big floral prints but this one is an exception. That is one dress I would like to have in my closet!

That Hugo Boss sheath is a top favourite of my own. It came out in the days before I found this present royal style blog haven and it's great to get a proper update now. I still feel like a newcomer here, barging in on everyone else's party, and you've all been so helpful and supportive, I'm learning loads. I also agree with you Jennifer about that sassy bob, it was super cute, I think!

Hi Sandy and Bertie, the dinoma dress was stunning! I loved the colourway, the print and the simplicity of the cut. It's feminine but it doesn't feel overly so, perhaps because of the icy pallet. There are so many ways that it could be re-styled successfully, I do hope that we see it again. Sadly Hugo Boss doesn't seem to have designed anything of late that gives the same effect.
Bertie, I have to say your elegance in writing is an inspiration, I always look out for yours and Sandy's posts - I was reading both your comments long before I started posting here! You encourage me to look closer and to always try and improve my writing, so much so that I am constantly rambling on :o)

Bertie & Jennifer, it's great to see the enthusiasm both of you put into this blog. And thanks for sharing your knowledge of fashion.

I think it is a comfy option for a Unicef event, also despite being in June this morning is almost freezing and snowing by the mountains in Madrid, (in the North they need a coat,) so she must struggle with the clothes.

This is a pretty dress and should present better than it does. To my eyes it comes across as very severe and drab for a spring time wearing. I suppose it is the dark colour and the buttoned up style. I much prefer the length that the model is wearing, although I realize that this would swamp Letizia's petite frame. Although I like both the shoes and the clutch and navy accessories are an obvious choice, I do think a lighter shoe and clutch would have elevated the look. The earrings are such fun!

It's no more complicated than that Felipe is being officially welcomed into the Garter Knights at their annual ceremony at Windsor Castle. Do you know the Garter parade? It dates back to 1348 and has a parade through the centre of the castle to St George's Chapel. This is quite a spectacle, with heavy flowing velvet capes and hats with huge feathers, including the men. It's no joke for them if the weather is hot, and these days Queen Elizabeth has page boys to carry her cape for her. It pains me to confess this, but as a youngster I was bored rigid by it as visitors to our Windsor home often came to stay expressly to see the show!

The Queen has also invited King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands to join the Order as well. The two kings coincide this year because Felipe had to miss last year's ceremony due to a diary clash with Trump in Washington. So all that means we have a major royal ladies day -- Kate, Letizia, and Maxima are all going to be there!

Many, many thanks Bertie!! I have never seen it, also Máxima there!! Letizia and Máxima are close friends and she is from Argentina and William and she met in the South of Spain.

A sober, steady dress, certainly right for a business occasion, but it doesn't quite hit Letizia's customary savvy style level. I like the print roses but there seems to be too little of the pink elements leaving them lost in sea of navy.

I see I liked it more last time, when we had a better supply of photos with Letizia in movement where the flow of skirt fabric was more in evidence. This time the front seems to be buttoned higher adding a dour note, and we are still suffering from the curse of the wandering belt end, missing a simple extra belt loop.

She's getting good mileage from the Hererra slingbacks and the open heel helps let in a bit more light into the heavy navy. Last time was helped by her red Menbur clutch, whereas more navy here is noticeably heavy. Not a standout look, but not a complete fail, I'm on the fence with this one!

"Curse of the wandering belt end!" Lol, I love it, Bertie. I think Laura is correct in suggesting that the dress does not "present well." I suspect this is another instance of a dress that just does not photograph well. I think it's probably very beautiful in person. Besides, Simone reminds us that it was a very cold day. In my opinion, a great look overall (except for the "curse").

In the North of the country is snowing, in June!! It was warm in March and now chilly in June....all crazy!!
My swimming pool opens this Saturday but the water is cold...

You can see that former years she wore sleeveless dresses.

I think this is a lovely look for these types of events. I really like the shimmer in the navy fabric and the subtle floral print. I also like that it’s a pretty affordable brand and that she rewears her outfits...no need to spend thousands on a dress that is only worn once.

She needs to buy affordable things, they earn a salary which is not very high and have to live with it, pay the people who work at her home, food, vacations, schools, etc..

Infanta Elena' s salary (Felipe's sister) who works for Mapfre Company earns more money than Letizia, who used to get more also working as a journalist.

None of these floral dresses photograph well. I am sure they are nice in person and the material is probably amazing and I am also sure they are very comfortable, but pictures don't do them justice at all. And I can't seem to warm up to Letizia in such designs. She is all for straight lines, that's when she shines.
