We had a unexpected surprise this evening. King Felipe joined his wife, Queen Letizia at the Spanish finals of the FameLab International competition. It was scheduled to be a solo event attended by Her Majesty, but at the last minute King Felipe decided to join his wife.
FameLab, founded in the United Kingdom, is a communications competition designed to give scientists and engineers a platform to share their enthusiasm for their subjects with the public. The contestants are required to break down their science, technology and engineering concepts into fun and entertaining three minute presentations. The winner from each participating country gets to battle it out at the FameLab International Grand Final in London during the Cheltenham Science Festival.
The competition is an informal event and Queen Letizia reflected the casual nature of the occasion by opting for a bohemian-inspired outfit. She wore a stone coloured tunic dress made from suede panels and finished with a crochet jeweled v-neckline. It is from the Uterque Summer 2014 collection and originally retailed for €225 (sold out).
Queen Letizia debuted a new pair of python printed strappy platform sandals from Adolfo Dominguez. The leather heeled sandals have a cut-out design and tie around the ankle with a slim, matching cord. The are from the current collection and retail for €219.
Letizia carried her metallic snake embossed flap clutch bag.
She completed the outfit with large gold hoop earrings.
