Queen Letizia dons figure-hugging Felipe Varela dress on the eve of the Princess of Asturias Awards20/10/2016
The King and Queen of Spain traveled to Oviedo today to preside over the Princess of Asturias Awards 2016. Over the next few days, King Felipe and Queen Letizia will deliver a series of prizes to individuals, entities or companies from around the world who make notable achievements in the sciences, humanities, and public affairs.
The Foundation was established in 1980 by the then twelve-year-old Felipe, Prince of Asturias. The annual awards are presented in Oviedo, the capital of the Principality of Asturias. Since the accession of Felipe VI as King of Spain, the foundation and the awards were renamed as the Princess of Asturias Foundation in accordance with the new heir to the Spanish throne, Leonor, Princess of Asturias.
On the eve of the official award ceremonies, their Majesties attended an orchestral concert.
Queen Letizia stepped out this evening in a new figure-hugging little black dress from Felipe Varela. The simple tank silhouette features thin spaghetti straps and a sexy scoop neckline.
The ponte pencil dress is from the designer's Spring/Summer 2017 collection and below we show it on the runway in black and white. It retails for €825.
Here's a look at the back of the dress.
Queen Letizia defined her waist with a black Felipe Valera leather belt with crystal flowers (€525). The piece is also from the SS 2017 collection.
She accessorized with her black satin clutch bag and black Prada Saffiano print patent leather pointy toe pumps.
She enhanced her ultra-feminine look with an old-Hollywood hair style. Letizia clipped her wavy locks to one side with a bejewelled hair clasp.
She first wore the clip to the Prince of Asturias Awards in 2012. The hair piece was reportedly created especially for her, with fabric from an old dress by Spanish milliners Pablo y Mayaya.
Letizia finished her glamorous look with her diamond "wedding" earrings.
Her Majesty covered up with a black fur-collared cape when she left the concert hall.
I believe the cape is by Carolina Herrara from the current CH Fall 2016 collection.
