The King and Queen of Spain presided over the delivery of the 2018 & 2019 National Culture Awards, at the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid.
The awards are granted by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, grouped by different thematic areas including; Fine Arts, Cinema and Audiovisual, Book, Reading and Letters, Performing Arts and Music, Historical Heritage, Cultural Industries and Bullfighting.
At this event, Adolfo Dominguez was awarded the 2019 National Fashion Design Award "for his professional career and his significance in the contemporary history of fashion in Spain.
Queen Letizia has worn Adolfo Dominguez for well over a decade, and it was only fitting that Her Majesty would wear another one of his designs tonight.
She debuted the Wrap-Around Dress with Side Lacing in Light Blue (£235). The midi length dress features long sleeves and is fashioned with a wrap-around cut which is held together by a covered D-Ring buckle.
Queen Letizia offset the blue dress with brown crocodile-effect accessories by Magrit. The coordinating clutch bag and stiletto pumps are bespoke pieces from the the Spanish shoemaker.

I bet that the Queen do has the same problem I have, short arms, she needs a person to fix It, only French sleeves fit her well.

Adolfo Domínguez is not Zara ( with all muy respect). They have a seamstress to allow you to fix the item perfectly, I wonder why Letizia does not use It when she buys designer clothes. Those sleeves can be fixed as blazers, trousers, etc.

I love wrap dresses so this is a win for me, and I especially love the combination of the blue with brown accessories. My only gripe is with the rolled up sleeves. Nati mentioned that AD offers a tailoring service so I'm not sure why Letizia didn't use it.

I love the cool blue colour of this dress and the brown shoes look fantastic with it. I'm not keen on wraparound dresses because in my personal experience I find them difficult to keep in place. I constantly have to adjust them when I move around. They can also look a bit messy as this one does with both a flounce and belt at the waistline. I agree with others that the rolled up sleeves would look better if they were altered.

This is a beautiful wrap dress and I like every aspect of it, with the exception of the rolled up sleeves, that should have been shortened. I'm not keen on the brown accessories and would have preferred navy with this dress.

I think you have a problem with your scream, the colour is burgundy, not Brown.

I thought they were brown. I based on this similar style from Magrit:

I actually think they are "caoba"...neither brown nor burgundy...could It be Mahogany un English?

Great suggestion! Yes they could possibly be a reddish-brown, like a mahogany

I'm simply in love with this warp-around Adolfo Dominguez, if you have to have a shapeless blue dress in your wardrobe this is the way to do it. I think it works so well due to careful management of fabric keeping the central silhouette sleek and form fitting while all the looser elements are quietly added on.

I think you are right, the colour is Mahogany, not brown, in Spanish It would be "caoba"....It tends to reddish..

For me, this is one of the strongest new looks of 2021, the details are refined, and the colour palette sophisticated. The Queen often favours dresses that look like silk. The soft drape of the polyester is beautifully feminine and gives the impression of buttery crepe de chine. The bodice sensually hugs her form before cascading into an elegant, waterfall wrap skirt. The earrings, although stunning, are a little fussy for my taste, but I love the idea of black diamonds sparkling against steel blue. For a long time, I have hoped that Letizia would invest in a pair of brown pumps, and a matching clutch. This set is gorgeous! As much as I adore the Carolina Herrera slingbacks, it's refreshing to see a pair of bespoke Magrit pumps made especially for 'Her'. I don't mind the rolled-up sleeves, they add a touch of nonchalance to the ensemble. However, generally speaking, after the lilac trouser suit worn last week, I think it would be wise if Letizia made use of the tailors available to her. Perfectly fitting garments would promote Spanish brands positively.

This is a beautiful surprise package indeed. The wrap around dress is superb. There are no folds or bulges, it wraps and flows perfectly. Its a splendid colour. I would never have thought to use the colour brown and it works marvelously in this instance, the contrast highlighting the beautiful blue of the dress. The only thing I am not a fan of are the earrings but that is my personal preference, regardless the Queen looks fabulous.
