Love everything about this pretty summer look. The shoes are especially lovely and coordinate perfectly.

The Queen looks very pretty. I must admit that I mostly found the US State Visit underwhelming fashion wise. I thought this dress was mediocre compared to other gorgeous dresses within Carolina Herrera collections last year, particularly being a bespoke piece. I am pleased to say that I think this dress looks delightful the second time round. The brief was to obviously create something quietly elegant and very summery which I didn't appreciate at the time. I love the burgundy on blush pink against her dark hair, it's so flattering and soft. I think the construction of the dress has been done exceedingly well, I can barely see the waist seam line, giving the impression that the pleats gently stem from the bust darts. I wondered if the bodice was a little snug but a more generous fit may have created a gape in the neckline, plus the fabric doesn't appear stressed at all. The earrings echo the print nicely and are substantial enough to add a little sparkle. I'm not the hugest fan of these Lodi shoes, I am bias to ankle straps but the lady like style works well with the cut of the dress. If it's repeated again a soft pink shoe to match the base colour of the dress might look elegant also - I did look through her current inventory of shoes but nothing stuck out as a solid match. Looking forward to being proved wrong with more of the US wardrobe!

It's nice to see this lovely CH dress again. I agree with Jennifer about the ankle straps. They look O.K. but I find them uncomfortable to wear. The strap digs into your ankle when you walk. But they are a good substitute for sandals. I can't help but admire Letizia's perfectly toned arms. I am so envious!!

Sorry but I do not agree about the ankle straps, they help to maintain the ankle fine to walk and not to stumble, all my sandals and or shoes for summer are like that.
Other thing is you like them or not. I noticed that Máxima and their daughters wear them too, might it be a Spanish thing?? I wonder, Maxima is from Argentina and has Spanish ancerstors..

Wendy, I'm glad ankle straps work for you. But, I like to be able to put on and remove my shoes easily. With ankle straps you have to fuss and fidget too much. You have to push the strap through the buckle and then make sure you get that little metal thing into the proper hole and then push it back through the buckle again. And if you don't get it right the first time you have to keep adjusting it. Too much work! You can't just slide your foot in and out unlike other shoes or sandals. I feel like my feet are trapped in there and it drives me crazy.

Too much work??....lol.... I had never heard thay, obviously only the first time, then you only need the same hole...I need one second and not even watch it....it must be the practise..all my life doing it..as the espadrilles and the ribbons, the same as to fit a belt...
In Spain flip-flops are only for the beach, no one wears them because the foot is too much "loose"?...We visit the podologist one a year too....as the dentist...

In Spain there is a saying that goes "Para presumir hay que sufrir" which means that you need to work to be perfect, so I guess we are still willing to do it...

However Older women go to the hairdresse every week to have their hair perfect, and she used to have make-up and manicure even at home...My mother still tells me off, for them it is seen as "lazy"....

Shoes with buckles and straps take significantly longer to put on compared to simple pumps or slingbacks. You also have to bend down which for some of us getting on in years is harder and harder to do. So yes, more work is involved. You should time yourself putting on straps and buckles and then pumps. You might be surprised at the difference.

Sandy...LOL...I practise yoga and swimming so I still bend down perfectly at my age...in fact people say I come across younger...I only can't see well, that's something I can't exercise....

It sounds like your doing quite well for your age, Wendy. Don't worry about the eyes. You can always wear glasses.

A welcome re-run for this pretty Herrera print, the dress is a nice fit thought I find the v-neck looks a little out of proportion for some reason, maybe it's because it's very low, also because it doesn't have a crisp 'V' at its base but a more rounded, maybe blunted, shape. It gives me a slight jar looking at it, which I enjoy as something that makes it more funky along with the cut-out shoulders. Those shoes are divine and have a wonderful hint of the wicked in such a saturated red with slender heel and straps. Love the earrings and hair at its glossy best. Brava Letizia!

A beautiful dress, I love it. The strappy pumps and colour are gorgeous. It is very pleasing to see the Queen affiliated with both these very worthwhile and important organisations, well done.

Letizia's hair is a lot darker than before, right?

It is her real colour nowadays, she does not want to damage her hair with too much dye....Our hair tend to darken with the age here...
You need a decoloration to reach a blonde and it is awful for the hair.
