Queen Letizia in a mix of old and new Carolina Herrera pieces for Mozambique arrival

The Queen of Spain arrived in Mozambique this evening ahead of a 2-day cooperation trip to the southern African nation.

The visit marks her fourth cooperation trip since becoming Queen consort - an initiative started by her mother-in-law, Doña Sofía in 1997. To date, Queen Letizia has made three trips of this kind, to Honduras and El Salvador in 2015, to Senegal in 2017, and to the Dominican Republic and Haiti in May 2018.

The purpose of the visit is to see first-hand the projects carried out by Spanish Cooperation in Mozambique. The Spanish Cooperation is the sum of all people, institutions, resources and skills that Spain offers to developing countries with the end goal of contributing to human development, the eradication of poverty and full access to rights.

Despite the long haul flight, Her Majesty looked fabulous in an all-blue ensemble.  She disembarked wearing an indigo blue CH Carolina Herrera denim shirt dress from the designer's SS19 range (with thanks to @HeavenQRF on Twitter for the ID). The dress in cotton denim features a flared skirt, shirt collar, short sleeves and concealed button fastening. It is finished with a detachable matching belt.

Letizia teamed the dress with familiar Carolina Herrera accessories. She carried the navy 'Baret'  flap clutch bag and on her feet she wore navy suede slingback pumps.

This is no ordinary denim dress. You can tell from the pictures that the fabric if of high quality because it has a sheen to it. I love the beautiful shade of indigo and the way it is belted at the waist allowing the skirt to flare out. It's also the perfect length hitting just below the knee. It looks very comfortable and a good choice for travelling considering it was a long flight for Letizia.

Such an elegant look, understated and befitting the occasion. The three shades of blue (dress, shoes and clutch) match beautifully. The simple small diamond studs provide the perfect amount of polish. The Queen looks very happy to be there.

A gorgeous classic shirtwaister by Herrera worn with aplomb by the ever stylish Letizia. The designer quality shines out in the neat bodice with its cute short sleeves and a collar that sits beautifully. I like the stitching detail on the bodice seams and in azig-zag pattern on the front placket. Covering the buttons this way transforms the garment from just another denim shirtwaister to something quite smart enough for an official deplaning. I'm slightly puzzled by the hip-level cross-seam but it all sits well too.

I admire your bargain replacement which avoids buttons on the skirt which can all too easily gape in this style. But, in agreement with Sandy, I fear it can't match the quality of a posh -- and soft -- designer chambray which hangs and handles as beautifully as this.

Beautiful denim dress...and everything else that you said. I like the observation about the cross stitching at the hip. Perhaps the fabric is not very wide and was used cross wise instead of length wise. Just a thought..but good eye. Intriguing.

I love this dress. It is a perfect fit. The length of the dress is just right. The navy accessories are fabulous.

Sandy's description of this beautiful Carolina Herrera dress is spot on. Notice also the top stitching all the way down the placket and the fabric-covered button, as well as the light blue lining just barely visible as she descends the stairs. I love a perfect shirtwaist dress, and Letizia carries this one off perfectly. This is another example of Letizia's ability to suit the style to the occasion. Here she is understated yet royal, arriving as she is in a developing country. Everything is contrived not to call attention to itself or herself (for example her dark colored clutch), yet her whole appearance gives the impression of elegance, self assurance and respect for those she is visiting. Thank you for following the Queen's visit to Mozambique. Here's hoping the rest of the visit is as satisfying as the first look!

QL looks casual yet elegant in this beautiful dress. The best pic is the 1st one where the colour goes from navy to navy/deep purple. Nice.
