Queen Letizia opted for a timeless combination of black and white, and debuted separates by Spanish brand, Poète. The budget-friendly clothing label prides itself on manufacturing in Spain, and this is the first occasion we have seen Letizia showcase the brand.
She wore the black star-printed Poète 'Galaxy' camisole (RRP €39.90) with the matching 'Omega' pleated midi skirt (RRP €59.90). Teamed together, they give the illusion of a dress.
Letizia created a professional look by adding her white Carolina Herrera blazer with black piping.
She complemented the monochrome theme with her black and white Magrit 'Ivi' flap clutch bag.
On her feet Letizia wore her black Carolina Herrera suede slingback pumps.
We saw the return of her beloved Chanel 'Comète' Earrings.
Queen Letizia finished the look with her favourite Karen Hallam gold-plated signature ring.

Wendy, I asked Núria Tiburcio to check with the brand and they said they had issues with the production run and had to change the lace trim detail.

The owner of the brand, Berta Martín Sanz, has said that she would have preferred the outfit without the blazer...I guess that morning was a bit cool and Letizia added the jacket....

Hi Wendy, thanks for sharing Berta Martin Sanz's thoughts! I think the top and skirt set may have fared better (for me) on their summer vacation in Mallorca. I think the designer intended this to be a relaxed and youthful look, styled with complementary alpargatas like the look book and a casual bag. Always great to see Letizia endorsing a new brand, I think the pieces have now sold out online!

Jennifer, I am so relieved to read your comments, I post mine without reading others first or else I my own views get too coloured by others. I thought perhaps I was being unduly harsh but you don't seem to have any higher opinion than I do! I'd forgotten about the problems with this jacket and can't recall when we first saw it. I think I was just so relieved to see something of quality being worn by the Queen that I kind of forgave it everything!

Ok, in Spain most people are republicans, we had two republics that only a coup d'tat could destroy.

Bertie, I agree it's wise to formulate your own opinions and not get influenced by those of other posters. That way you give an honest assessment.

Thanks Sandy I appreciate there have been tensions around the Spanish monarchy, and thank you for reporting back from the front line, It is so brave of you to be writing in a foreign language, I am sorry I am unable to reciprocate. I am just a little curious as to how budget price the monarchy can go without looking a bit out of place. I don't think that is likely in Letizia's case of course, she is always elegant, and has one of the lowest clothes budgets of all the European royal ladies, which makes it all the more remarkable that she is frequently cited as being very stylish. And of course I respect all things Spanish! I've just finished following the amazing La Vuelta, with terrific mountain scenery!! Buenos dias xo

Hi Bertie, I do the same! I even go as far as writing my comment in my email so I'm not be swayed one way or the other. Sorry, I should have put the date for when Letizia last wore this blazer, it was 07/02/2018 (link below). I completely agree with what you said that it is about choosing clever pieces from the high street, that look high end. For instance, the Mango olive jumpsuit worn in Mallorca 02/08/19, the Zara orange trouser set worn in Argentina 23/03/19 and the Massimo Dutti white and navy printed dress 14/06/19 to name but a few. This ensemble didn't live up to how amazing the high street can be and Spain has some of the best 'more affordable' clothes on offer!

Thanks so much for your reply Jennifer and for all those dates, I shall be busy for a while comparing my notes :) I also try to write out with a post, in my case usually in a document when I'm on my desktop, my preferred venue for studying dresses. Good point about Spanish affordable wear, I think this latest one upset me especially with what I judged to be tacky lace.

I think Letizia looks very smart & stylish in this oufit. Black and white is always a sharp & classic combination. The print of the skirt and top is subtle and the fine pleats are another interesting detail along with the lace neckline. The black piping on the collar of the jacket looks great and ties in well with the rest of the separates. My one and only complaint is that the sleeves are way too long. They should have been shortened because they throw the whole outfit off. There is no excuse for a well known high end designer like CH to not take care of this alteration for someone as high profile as the Queen of Spain!

I wonder if it is at all possible if the sleeves are meant to be fashionably long? I'm not saying that's any good reason to keep them like that, but just thought there was an outside chance the designer intended them to turn out that way. Despite how odd it looks to us!

Yes, the long sleeves might have been intentional. These days anything goes. We still don't have to like it.

I'm sorry if Letizia feels she has to go quite so down market in her High Street picks and wonder at the Spanish for wanting a cut-price monarchy. I wonder at what stage it might click that their prize royal could end up looking kinda shabby against other European ladies. Europe's first royal scarecrow, anyone??

Bertie, in Spain we don't give a damn other European royals. Those countries are rich and people are rich., we have had a different history...As I said before, we do not follow their clothes at all , in Spain only is important Felipe's job, Letizia has not any Constitutional power (which probably having been a journalist is complicated for her) and what others monarchies do in Spain would be a reason to abolish it. We have had two Republics and Alfonso XIII was sent to the exile...Only because Juan Carlos I brought back the democracy, they are there, but only working and we only pay for them....not the whole royal family....

Thank you Wendy, always so good to hear from you and thank you for taking the trouble to read my comments. I appreciate the Spanish monarchy has had a chequered history. I don't think I'm talking about coming across as rich, I'm just wondering if anyone might notice if Spain was ever left looking a bit cheap if the monarchy is forced into too much budget wear. Of course, as Sandy rightly says below, Letizia is more than capable of making anything look a million bucks, which is good from her as she has the lowest wardrobe budget of the leading European ladies. It's just unfortunate that in this one instance I think the budget part of the outfit looks like something the cat brought in -- a British expression for you there!! Best wishes to you, and it's always wonderful to hear first hand from Spain, thank you :)

The dress may be 'cheap' but I think Letizia makes it look like a million bucks. There are some women that wear expensive clothes and make them look cheap.

Pairing affordable top/dress with Chanel earrings. She pulled it off. I like the CH blazer with it.

The Queen looks lovely. The piping on the jacket is very effective, although the fitting of the arms is somewhat off the mark. I like the lace trim, very feminine. Sling back pumps I love.
