I didn't like this Hugo suit when the Queen first wore it in Peru. I'm pleased to say that all my niggles with the trousers have gone and I think they look great today - the Queen looks modern and effortless. I believe this is how the trousers looked in the fitting room before purchasing them, on the state visit they appeared crushed and baggy with no shape. They were also weighed down by the matching double breasted blazer (there was a lot of check and grey between the two pieces) and the darker shoes/clutch set. Here the white silk effect blouse and pastel pumps create a very light and airy look. Notable effort has gone into matching the checks on the side seams and the cubed buttons on the blouse are a nice detail. I would change the earrings, simple diamond studs or tiny diamond hoops that curve around the lobe would have been stylish and more in keeping with the rest of the outfit.

I thought the cutesy butterfly earrings were a slight mismatch too, especially given how many modern styles she has which could have chimed nicely with the cubed buttons. But being Letizia she rarely makes a big mistake, just a minor quibble, as today she looks terrific. Do you suppose she might have had the trousers shortened as they look so much better this time?

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. The trousers look like they have been shortened are much more pleasing to the eye.

Hi Bertie, it's so hard to tell for sure but I counted the white stripes on the trousers and I think there is one less so I'd say yes they were taken up. I think front creases also held better this time so the fabric didn't gather so heavily in the legs. Your absolutely right about the earrings being a minor detail this was a good summery look. I think she has four engagements this week it's always exciting to see her!

I like this outfit. It is appropriate, simple but nice. I especially like how the pale pink acessoires goes with the grey trousers. I just don't understand why she is wearing long trousers, long sleeves and pumps in the summer. Is this summer colder in Spain?

In Spain?? It depends on the place, in the North the temperature max is 25 in summer, in the rest just the contrary, some people suggest that the air conditioning could be very high in some places.

These pants look much better without the ill-fitting jacket worn in Peru the first time around. That jacket was way too big, the sleeves were too long and the fabric looked cheap Someone had the bright idea to rescue the pants from that mess and this time they helped create a nice outfit. Those cute little cube buttons on the blouse are very unique and make it look quite special. And, It was imaginative to use the shoes and purse in the soft pink.. Well done!

Lovely.
Pants are shorter this time, right?

This is absolute perfection from Letizia, laid-back, chic, elegant, and she wears it brilliantly. The pants are a superb fit and a good length with heels. I also like how the spread front shirt collar chimes with the flat high trouser waistband, they seem to echo simplicity and minimal chic. I'm smitten by the darling square silver buttons, quietly subversive amid the classic elegance. The soft contrast in the nude/pink Magrit accessories is spot on, and minimum jewellery is always good with me.

A beautiful but simple outfit. The pants are perfect, the length is spot on. They look so much better without the blazer that she wore previously. Love the elegance of the blouse. The pale pink accessories are gorgeous, so soft looking and different, I love it.

Although the outfit was attractive, it somehow did not look appropriate
for the occasion. Perhaps a short waisted jacket would have "dressed" it up a bit. For jewelry, larger pieces would have made a better presentation.

A jacket at 40C degrees in Madrid and a heat wave? No please!! In Spain everybody wonders why she is so covered, with long sleeves, maybe the air conditioning.

Kudos to the tailor who rescued these pants. They look very smart with the beautiful blouse. I'd love to own those shoes and purse, although mine would have to have a MUCH lower heel.
