Queen Letizia of Spain attended a meeting with the Foundation Against Drug Addiction (FAD) today. You may recall that Her Majesty became honorary president of FAD in September 2015, taking on the role from Queen Sofia who served as patron for nearly 30 years.

A reminder that The King and Queen of Spain will visit the USA this week from June 14 to 19. Their Majesties will visit the cities of New Orleans and San Antonio. On the 19th they will travel to Washington DC where they will be received at the White House by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

This is a boldly patterned skirt that somehow has failed to work well as part of an outfit for an official occasion. The white blouse, like the pale blue knit top Letizia wore on a previous occasion, matches the skirt, but the overall effect is underwhelming. I've tried imagining if it would work better with the strong blue knit top she wore on 4 June and a white jacket. What spectacular earrings!

I like this simple white blouse the best of the tops that Letizia has worn with this skirt. I do agree with you Stephie, that the look is underwhelming. It is just not dressy enough for an official occasion. I do like that the shoes and purse match, but the purse is too big and swamps Letizia's petite frame.

I was also thinking Letizia has few choices left to try with this skirt. Either a dark top as you say or something less brash than that mustard yellow, perhaps nearer to the tan of these accessories. I hope she finds something because it's such a great skirt.

Yes! My comment in April was that she try the skirt with a blue top in the same colour as the background as the skirt. I've had pieces like this; they look good in the store and then I wind up buying several items to try to make it work and it never does.

Genevieve, I agree that the background colour in the print skirt is likely the best match for a top. They say when you select an item in the store, look to see if there is something that goes with it. If you don't find it that day, you likely won't find it at all. As you say, trying to match, unless the item has companion items by the same company/designer, is very challenging.

Letizia has tried mustard and light blue with this skirt in the past. I think the white looks the best but I don't like the style of the top. It looks like a t-shirt and too casual. A more feminine blouse or blazer would look much better in my opinion. I agree with Stephie that the earring are bold and beautiful.

I love this skirt and this is the best of its three outings as Letizia has yet to find the top that gives the right zing. The cream Dominguez blouse is still an improvement on the mustard yellow or washed out blue. The tan accessories are great and the skirt manages a wonderful fullness minus bulk thanks to all those concertina pleats
