King Felipe and Queen Letizia were in Córdoba today to attend the Gold Medals of Merit in Fine Arts ceremony at the Merced Palace.
Their Majesties delivered the awards which serve to recognize individuals and organizations that have made a significant contribution to the education, development, dissemination or preservation of the Fine Arts.
Prior to the ceremony, the royal couple spent time with the crowd that had gathered to greet them.
Queen Letizia arrived wearing her Hugo Boss 'Catifa' shawl red wrap coat.
Today she debuted houndstooth separates by Hugo Boss.
The set consists of the 'Clady' Houndstooth Top (US$235) and the 'Riami' Houndstooth Pencil Skirt (US$245) from the German brand's HUGO line.
Another new addition was the black Hugo Boss 'Adrienne' Top-Handle Bag in smooth Italian leather. The handbag retailed for US$845 but is now discounted to US$506.99 at Hugo Boss USA.
Letizia contrasted the monochrome ensemble with her custom red Magrit 'Liza' suede pumps.
She finished the look with her cabochon ruby and diamond dangle earrings.

Great outfit! I wouldn't change a thing! Cleverly accessorised with a contrasting colour (in just the right amount) that elevates the whole look.

This is Letizia at her absolute best in terms of originality and style. I love houndstooth -it's a striking and classic print that never goes out of style. The red coat is gorgeous and along with the red shoes adds a dash of colour to the outfit. I can see both these pieces being recycled in the future. The skirt could be teamed with a black blazer while the top would look great with a black skirt or pants.

So, I'll be the contrary voice. I don't like this ensemble. I think the houndstooth is too large so I see it rather than the woman wearing it. I also would've preferred a deeper red in the shoe or even the black and white pumps. I would've just had a bright red lip but the entire outfit black and white. But that's just me. I think the cut of the separates looks awesome.

Since Letizia is mingling with the crowd I think she wore this outfit to stand out so people could see her. Queen Elizabeth usually wears bright colours so people can see her and she doesn't get lost in the crowd.

She really hit it out of the ball park with this great outfit. My only quibble is the shorter length of the coat allows about 5 inches of the dress to show beneath the coat's hem. I always think that looks rather awkward, but I'll admit the pairing of the b/w houndstooth and the red is brilliant.

In Spain is just the contrary, most coats are shorter than the outfit inside and you can see the hem. I suppose it is because we do not wear very l(arge , long , warm) coats?? As in other countries I have seen or even in the North of Spain when I have seen , humongous anoraks.

I love this two-piece, it seems to work wonderfully well on Letizia. The bold check is nappy but not overwhelming and the fit of top and skirt is awesome, kudos to Hugo Boss. The classic red contrast in her shoes is perfect, and the interesting cut of the pumps at the front adds some handy contrast. The skirt length also works, it's very nicely judged given it could easily look too heavy on petite Letizia. The rubies in her earrings are the perfect finishing touch.

Love her look. Especially the contrasting red shoes, red earrings vs the b & w houndstooth. Look at the pic where she's crossing the street waving to the crowd. How good does she look wearing those red shoes! Go QL!!!
