The Queen of Spain attended the exhibition La otra Corte. Mujeres de la Casa de Austria en los monasterios reales de Las Descalzas y La Encarnación (The Other Court. Women of the House of Austria in the royal monasteries of Las Descalzas and La Encarnación).

The exhibition at the Royal Palace contains portraits of women from the House of Austria in two Royal Monasteries in Madrid; The Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales, built in the 16th century, where Franciscan nuns resided, and the Monasterio de la Encarnacion, built in the 17th century, inhabited by Augustinian nuns. The exhibition highlights the way in which the palace and religious aspects are linked and the strong relations with the Austrian Empire.

I believe this may have been Letizia's final engagement of the year. Their Majesties are expected to resume royal duties in the first week of 2020 when they preside over the traditional celebration of the Pascua Militar on January 6th.
Feliz Navidad and Happy New Year to all my readers!

Ending the year on a colorful note. Clean lines, but the jacket looks a little too large at first glance. .on another note, here are her 10 best looks for 2019 from this vantage point.
13/2 - Morocco. The white hand beaded version of traditional Moroccan dress. (Varela)
18/2 – Houndstooth two-piece (Hugo Boss), and red wrap coat. There was something about her that day. she ‘walked’ that outfit.
27/2 - The return of the gray/blue princess dress from the wedding of W&K (Varela)
28/2 – ARCO, or how to ‘own ‘ a leather dress. (& Other Stories)
25/3 – Argentina - Green & Gold, gala dinner. (CH)
2/7 – Mallorca - Film Festival. B/W top and trousers. Chic done right.
22/10 - Japan – Flowers and bling (a lot of bling). A colorful bird among the other royal doves. (Matilde Cano)
3/11 – Cuba- water green dress. (Nina Ricci)
28/11 – Black & Gold midi. (Dries Van Noten)
3/12 – Little black dress with waist length fringe – (Hugo Boss)
*Special mention to the CH first worn in London to meet P. Charles, the H&M Conscious skirt., and everything embellished with feathers.

That’s a great recap., Zoe. The grey/blue princess dress would be my top pick but there is a lot of competition.

I agree the Nina Ricci mint dress and Dries Van Noten Black/Gold midi dress were superb and definitely belong in the top 10. However, overall it was a mediocre year fashion wise IMHO. There were too many matronly styles and animal prints, asymmetrical hemlines, cropped pants, poorly fitting items, ankle length skirts & dresses, and too much black, white, and grey. I think Letizia looks best in simple, classic designs with hemlines just below the knee, fitted blazers, blouses and tops, regular length trousers and brighter colours. In 2019, she seemed to be experimenting with a lot of different styles like she hasn’t yet found what works best for her. I said this before and I’m sorry to keep repeating it but her best years were 2015 & 2016. She looked absolutely gorgeous and sensational. Every outfit hit the ball out of the park. I hope she returns to the styles of that time.

The House of Austria or the Habsburgs, were the Royal House before the Bourbons, the current dinasty. It was the time when Carlos I of Spain and V of Germany was the Emperor of the Spanish Empire and his son Felipe II, where the sun never set, since América to Filipinas (called like that in honour to Felipe II), in English Philippines.

They were extincted because the inbreeding, what nowadays people call "pedigree". Letizia adds new blood to the Bourbons.

It's so sad that another year is over. I just wanted to say the QLSB is the best royal/celebrity fashion site I have had the privilege to support. The women who regularly share their comments here are passionate, dedicated, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We have formed a special community and even though we don’t always agree, we come together and enjoy one another’s opinions and expressions. I noticed we are all working on becoming more tolerant and respectful of those whose views differ from our own. I personally appreciate learning about various designers and seeing clothing styles I might otherwise never have the opportunity. I can’t tell you how much I look forward to each new outfit and reading every one of your comments. I’m happy to see the blog grow and become more popular these past few years. And with the help of dear Jennifer, Elizabeth has been able to continue this work despite facing some difficulties. I can’t thank you ladies enough! To everyone who has made this blog a success, I hope we continue to be inspired by the style of beautiful Queen Letizia in our own lives. I look forward to next year and the joy of discovering new & creative style ideas. I hope everyone has a joyous holiday season and a happy new year.
P.S A special thank you to our Spanish supporters who help us understand Spanish culture, customs and ideology. You highlight certain points that we might otherwise overlook and make this more than just a style blog. Even though English is not your first language you make wonderful contributions!

Thank you Wendy and Sandy for your insights throughout the year. It feels my heart with so much joy to know my blog is appreciated. In this year of toxic royal watching, the QL blog and community has become a refuge for me and I value everyone who supports, contributes and reads the blog. Jennifer has been the blog's saviour and I don't think I could have continued without her. I'm so grateful for each and everyone of you. Thank you!

I love the strawberry ice cream colour of this suit. It's a welcome change from all the black worn lately. I think it's more appropriate for Spring/Summer rather than Fall/Winter. But why not wear it now? There really should be no rules on what people can and cannot wear. My only problem is that the blazer looks way too big on Letizia. It's too long, too boxy and shapeless and the sleeves are also too long. I do love the block heels of the shoes. They look more comfortable and safer to wear than the super thin stiletto's she normally wears.

Lovely pink suit, although the jacket looks a bit oversized and the pants bag a bit from the knees down. Shoes compliment nicely.

Merry Christmas everyone! All the best for good health and happiness in 2020.

I'm a big fan of bold and pastel colours in the colder months, certain shades look chic and confident. The suit is flattering, lines are clean and the soft petal and slim-cut trousers add modernity to the traditional design. Trousers fit beautifully but the jacket is a little off on the shoulders and a CM too long in the arms, I hope these details can be adjusted as it's an elegant look. The pink tone is surprisingly versatile and will act as a neutral to darker colours. Patent pumps perfectly complement, adding length to the ensemble. I'm not convinced the Carolina Herrera top was the best choice. I would have preferred the white Hugo Boss Bonora blouse, which would have been sleeker overall with the gathers concentrated at the neckline. HB has an almost identical trouser suit in dark green which I've been hoping the Queen would purchase, as I would have favored the latter. Green is my favourite colour, so I'm a little biased, the shade is sophisticated and would have looked striking combined with clever styling while enhancing her eye colour.

My top 10 looks of the year - I can't wait to read others!
1. (Joint first place) 13/11/19 Nina Ricci mint dress - 29/11/19 Dries Van Noten black and gold dress
2. 28/02/19 & Other Stories black leather dress (minus the hair bow)
3. 13/02/19 Felipe Varela white slip & embroidered tunic
4. 18/10/19 Pertegaz applique dress
5. 26/03/19 Zara orange trouser set (beautiful choice of navy accessories)
6. 03/12/19 Hugo Boss black fringe dress (I would have preferred an exciting shoe choice)
7. 23/07/19 Michael Kors pink dress (I didn't care for this look in 2018 - the chic ponytail transformed this look for me)
8. 24/04/19 Carolina Herrera peacock floral dress (favourite styling of this dress)
9. 19/06/19 (Unknown designer) soft blue A-line dress with jewelled buttons at the waist

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy 2020!

Jennifer, You made us aware that pink can be used as a neutral. This suit would look good with a navy blouse and shoes, black blouse and shoes, grey blouse and shoes, even a cranberry colour. To a lesser extent it would not clash with brown or tan. Yes, indeed very versatile.

Hi Elizabeth,
I would also like to thank you and your helpers for allowing us to be a part of the blog.. QL's fashion is never boring. My only regret is that she is known mainly for her fashion choices.
@Jennifer F. Loved your list too. The light blue fit and flare with the metallic buttons had to be cut from my list because there was too much to choose from. That dress was tailored to within an inch of its life ):. The fit was perfect. The white dress worn to the opening of the Teatro Real as the designer explained was not easy to cut as it fit the silhouette in the back but was held together only by the tab at the front. Pity about too much cleavage at the lapels. Thank you everyone for being a knowledgeable positive community of fashionistas. Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

This is a beautiful pink pant suit. The ankle pants are the perfect fit, superb. Jacket is on the larger side, as opposed to the slim fit of the pants and spoils the overall look. Cap sleeve silk blouse I love, but a choice of grey tones would look fabulous . Mayfair pump shoes are stunning.
P.S I love to read the contributions from the Spanish community, your insight has been fascinating. It has certainly given me appreciation, knowledge and more understanding of your culture. Thank you.
Merry Christmas and Happy, safe New Year to all.

Merry Christmas to everybody!!🎅 Don't eat too much, then the outfits do not fit!! ( pun intended)..

I'd like to mention Ava Pittman and a so always positive and joy person but sometimes unnoticed. You must be a nice person, it seems that you are always happy. You really make my day sometimes and not only due to the comment, the tone.

Obviously many thanks to Elizabeth and Jennifer!! I enjoy this blog to the full.

Love the color of the suit and the insight that it could be a neutral. But that jacket is too big and boxy in every way. The sleeves are too wide and too long. I hope it gets altered and she wears it again. Love those shoes and they are so much better for her feet than spike heels. Thanks for all the work you gals do on this site!

I'm not having much luck with Letizia's final 2019 outfits here as this is the third out of the last four I haven't been able to relate to. I find the shade of pink a bit sickly and 'off' but that could be entirely due to the lighting for the photography. However it's a bit washed out on Letizia and I've yet to readjust my own fashion vision to wide jackets, so, although the suit embodies class Hugo Boss tailoring, I'm not happy with the wide jacket over narrow leg pants, it's jarring for me at the moment. The Mayfair pumps are fun with their block heels, but I think the suit looks better in the studio shot with black heels. No doubt Letizia will have an outing for the suit with that combination before long! She continues to display class and elegance on her outings despite any opinion of mine :)

Thank you for the blog, it's so interesting! I like the suit, it's modern yet conservative. I also prefer block heels to the super high spike heels!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
