Following their arrival in South Korea this morning, the King and Queen of Spain visited the Seoul National Cemetery where 165,000 fallen soldiers and police officers are laid to rest who died in the Korean independence movement, Korean War, and Vietnam War.
Their Majesties paid their respects and laid a wreath at the 'Hyeonchungtab' (memorial tower). Wearing white gloves they placed three lots of incense into the censer and gave a minutes silence, before signing the cemetery book of honor.
They then travelled to Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) where the President Moon Jae-in and First Lady Kim Jung-sook gave them an official welcome.
Both countries anthems were played and King Felipe and President Moon Jae-in oversaw the troops.
The Queen held a meeting with First Lady Kim Jung-sook.

This is not one of my favorite dresses but I think it works well on this tour. And it's great how it compliments the Korean first lady's outfit. Did they plan it? This has been a very busy October for the King and Queen. They must be tired. And Elizabeth must be tired covering all this events plus Kate & Meghan. Thanks for doing such a great job! Everyone needs a break after this is all over.

I wonder if the pattern looks better at daylight instead under the flashlight. The colours seem different.

You're right the dress looks less shiny in the daylight. I like it better that way.

I loved this dress the first time the Queen wore it and the same now. Accessories are a great choice, the Nina Ricci pumps, gorgeous. What jumps out at me more are the beautiful drop sapphire and diamond earrings and divine bracelet, stunning pieces.

This dress is growing on me and I can see how appropriate it is for an event in Japan. Letizia's hair looks limp and perhaps needs a trim. Although the length worked well for the undo with the vibrant pink dress.

Laura, I think Letizia's hair could be a result of all the travelling and even jetlag. I know my hair never looks good when I am on vacation. The water in other countries is different and that can affect hair too.

It's nice to see this dress again! It's perfectly polished, regal and classic simplicity after so many frilly concoctions! It could be styled with any of the beautiful rich jewel-tones in the dress and will always look appropriate for any occasion.

This is one of my favourite Carolina Herrera pieces that the Queen owns, it embodies elegance with a touch of drama. The colours are divine and the silk floral feels apt for South Korea. Sapphire jewels enhance the opulence of the full skirt and rich fabric. Three quarter length sleeves create an early pause in the print and prevent it from feeling overwhelming. As I have said before, it would be lovely to see this dress styled with teal accessories, but the gorgeous Nina Ricci suede pumps work perfectly well.

The horrors of the creaking Temperley design are all completely forgiven at my joy in seeing this wonderful dress again, I can't have enough of it. MY admiration for the execution of that print knows no bounds, the jewel colours and their respective proportions, the classic oriental-style print all offset both by delicate blue outlines and then stronger accents of deepest pink.

Bertie, delighted to see you! I very much missed your thoughts on the posts over the last week, but understand you needed a pause following the Pakistan tour (the ombre CW was sublime!). I remembered that you are a great fan of this dress also, I was so happy to see it repeated! I completely agree that most Temperley pieces look best when the wearer is stationary - I am not a fan of the brand either.

Thank you for the welcome back, and here I was thinking I could just lie low for a while and no one would notice 😅 Very touched to see some of you ask after me. I like your idea of teal accessories with the CH, that would certainly liven things up. I'm afraid that saying Temperley should stay stationary is effectively saying it should remain no more than a doodle on paper ☹

Hi Bertie, some designs should stay on paper :o) but I imagine the brand is very successful with it's customer base. Apologies, slightly off on tangent here, but one look that really stood out for me was Andrea Riseborough's (link below) Again, there is a lot going on but she looks statuesque and the styling, or lack there of, is superb.

Thanks for the link, Jennifer. A case of enough embellishment not to need any extra jewellery, though still done with restraint. I think Temperley wants to go for the vintage clutter and embellishment but it's a hard trick to pull off and retain style. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
