I loved this dress the first time she wore it and the same now. The sling back pumps are perfect as is the navy belt. The Queen looked beautiful in this outfit.

I agree it looks great the second time around. I love the neckline and it looks so comfortable and stylish. Tweed is an all time classic.

Really really good. I loved the first wear of this dress and it looks just as good the second time around.

Amancio Ortega (Zara's owner), has donated 560 millions of Euros to the Spanish public health system to buy radiotherapy equipments and to detect cancer very fast....I bet she wears Zara honoring him...

I wasn't aware of that It's a wonderful gesture and I'm sure one of the many reasons Her Majesty chooses to support the brand.

I am so very happy you are covering Letizia's style. Meghan's is so so dull, the entire tour looks like a miss to me so far. With Letizia you never get bored :)

I so agree with you Elena. I really don't have anything personal against Meghan Markle but I just don't see anything interesting about her clothing. Except price maybe. 😉
Queen Letizia, however, wears everything, every possible style or colour and with such class and I'm allways excited about what she will choose next time.

I was surprised to see Meghan wear a dress that cost only 69 euros recently. Most of her outfits are up in the thousands or tens of thousands. Did she hear the public outcry about the high cost of her clothing or is this just a one off?

Meghan appears to have effected an abrupt hand-brake turn in the fashion budget department on this tour. It's nearly all been 'cheap-or-repeat' if I might put it like that. It's reminded me of Letizia and the struggle I've had lately when I think things look too budget-label to work. Are all the royal ladies embarking on a thrift-blitz so as not to offend among more challenged constituencies?

There was one good jeans outfit from Meghan among what were big misses for me, and then, surprise, today, two good outfits, courtesy of Club Monaco and Everlane. And she is looking at the mid-range quality offerings now, as per every other European royal. I find difficulty following her fashion choices at times, but I think she's from a different culture and both she and I are on a learning curve. Just for today I think she's doing well!

I think some of the royals such as Letizia and Kate wear high/low pieces. Meaning they mix it up with lower cost garments as well as higher end designer pieces. So don't worry I think you will continue to see expensive designer pieces from both as well as budget friendly ones. I think Meghan wore lower cost items because she is in Africa and didn't want to offend with very expensive garb. We will see what the future will bring from her.

I can't deny that I am a little disappointed to see this Zara dress again, although I am not surprised as July's outfit details were covered in some of the big online fashion magazines such as French Vogue (link below). My thoughts have not changed since it's debut. The Queen has succeeded in making an inexpensive piece look far more costly than it's original price tag. Her perfect poise and stunning accessories, but mostly the addition of the waist belt, enhance the look. I feel the dress on it's own isn't one of the high street’s stronger pieces. There is no tailoring or hang (I believe the dress is lined as one of the images from the event looked like the dress had navy lining) and the unnecessary features like the patch pockets do not distract from the fundamental  problems. It was wise to keep the styling simple and monochrome, it keeps the overall look clean as there are many trimmings on the already busy tweed inspired fabric. I appreciate that an almost full repeat (except the earrings) keeps the focus on the importance of the event, and despite my quibbles, Letizia looks polished and well put together.

Jennifer, I'm sure of heard of the term shabby chic? I think this dress falls in that category. It is deliberately styled so that it is not perfect.

Hi Sandy, I know exactly what you mean :o) I think this dress may be one of those marmite pieces that you either really enjoy or dislike. The vast majority of feedback I have seen on this piece has been really positive! Considering the incredible sum of money Amanico Ortega donated to the health service (thank's so much for that information Wendy!) I'm delighted the Queen wore Zara and there are many great finds to be found inside their stores! I appreciate that we buy clothes for our own tastes, body shapes etc but I often like to remove the wearer and ask myself if the piece stands up on it's own. Sadly for me this one doesn't, but I can completely understand why most people like it.

I am surprised to read comments on here about Meghan. This is a blog about Letizia and as such, others should not be brought into the discussion. Comparisons are generally not fair. We can fully critique Letizia without putting anyone else down. For the record, I often dislike what Meghan is wearing, but this blog is not the place to comment about that.

I don't mind general discussion about the fashion of other royals, and since I manage other blogs covering those looks I think it's ok to discuss and compare so long as it's civil. I do sometimes fear the comments may be hijacked so I thank you for trying to steer the comments back to Letizia :)

I support what you're saying, Laura, and I myself normally shy away from mentioning other royals on a particular royal blog. I just noticed that Elizabeth had allowed a couple of comments through and the subjects do overlap at times.

I genuinely wonder how far it's possible to go with diplomatic 'dressing down' before a royal might look ridiculous or even cause offence. It puzzles me in the case of Letizia as I wonder just how much the anti-royal feeling could go before someone began to feel that national pride might be at stake if the sackcloth-and-ashes pressure went too far. The Spanish royals have suffered ill-will after recent financial scandal and despite being one of the most economical of Euro-royals she can still be subject to accusations of extravagance in her wardrobe.

I think that you do not understand that almost nobody follows Letizia's clothes in Spain., if you asked , nobody would know...We do not speak about them....I am in a foreign blog. People have more important problems to struggle and the Monarchy is not a "proud" if not something we have because Franco put them there...People in Spain are republicans and people do not want a clothes horse strolling around....Letizia has not got any Constitutional power so she could stay at home, doing nothing. We have a lot of unemploiment so the ridiculous or offense thing would be to have spongers there. She does not need anything else.
As I said before his grandfather, Alfonsl XIII was sent to the exile and Franco broke down the Republic in Spain.....There was an awful Civil War that destroyed the Country.....so our history is not about the love to the Monarchy...Felipe is a worker....and has no power at all, in UK the Queen has ejecutive power....here nothing.....The King only represents the Unity of the Country but not the people...
We just have the President of the govermment's wife who works for a private company and buy her own clothes...Felipe's family has to work....We do not understand why in the 21 century a woman must follow her husband and can't have her own job....

PS: There are not Spanish Royals...only Felipe, Letizia and their daughters are Royals..the rest have no titles....and need a normal job......
The foreign people have interest in Letizia a her fashion, here I do not have any place to speak about it....and most of the time the gossip places, tell the wrong brand, only Elisabeth says the things properly about the clothes...and She must know better....Most of the time she investigates better...

However people who are Monarchist
are interesting in the things she does...., She wears this dress because belings to Amancio Ortega, not because "fashion"......after all she manages well......

Sorry for the rumbling, but you insist too much with the "proud" or "offense" that nobody feels ..just the contrary...our Constitution allows a referendum about the Monarchy....I doubt who will win.....

Wendy, thank you as always for your excellent first-hand insight and refresher history course. I realise the Civil War was terrible beyond imagining and Franco was far from being good news. I think however there might be a teensy bit of national pride involved when royals help greet triumphant sporting teams as the men's world basketball champions recently. That is when royal critics could have a field day if the Queen turned up looking dowdy and shabby having raided the sale rack at Zara. Oh dear, I hope I don't use too many English colloquisms! A field day would be everyone joining in, in this case to criticise. Then I notice how many people are there to greet Letizia when she's out so not absolutely everyone dislikes her. And just the other day you were pleased as Punch (!! Punch is an old children's puppet character who is always very pleased with himself, but used as a term of affection here! 0_0 ) when you bought the Sandro print dress which was selling out. How come they knew which dress to buy?! I detect pockets of Royalistas however few in number lol. But I fully respect what you say, and how perilous the position of the Spanish monarchy is. You help me understand why Letizia looked quite so worried when she first became Queen!

Wendy
26/9/2019 06:52:14 pm

I INSIST Bertie, just the contrary, people is very proud of Zara because it is a very important Spanish company, so we are proud that she wears Zara.....and Amancio donates money for the health system...
People want she wore more Spanish brands ( thing that she is doing a lot now))....it is not important if you like too much or not but ....but at least you take a look to its website....and they will sell more..., when people hear that Hugo Boss has been helped by Letizia, they go up the wall....

I do not know if I am able to explain it in English...

About the national "pride", don't get me started with the separatist movements and the lots of languages we speak here....You call Spanish to the castellano language....we have 3 more "Spanish" languages...Euskera, Català and Galego......lol.....really it is a very complecated country for Felipe and Letizia.....as I said before, she is the weaker member.....
And I do not say that people do not like her....I only say that "clothes" are not important.....

Bertie

Wendy, I must thank you so much for your continued patience with my persistence, you help no end in easing Anglo-Spanish relations - gracias! That is such a helpful point about Zara and one I manage to clean forget. You can see straightaway the difference between an amateur like myself and the university-trained Jenifer who could never forget such a thing! At the same time, allow me to wonder how it is, if no one cares about the clothes, how come such major brands are happy when Letizia wears them?! But I perfectly understand that you are talking in much more general terms than these and I thank you once more for your valuable on-the-ground insights :)

Wendy
26/9/2019 07:48:24 pm

Bertie, the thing is that the Spanish brands know that in other countries people follow her clothes and they could sell more. It is not only in the Country, we know most of the brands, I try to speak about "exports"...

Sorry, I hope not to bother you, I understand that you see the dresses, etc...but you do not understand where she is.....or what she is doing or the political issues there.....you only see ensembles....it must be very difficult...

I think that Victoria of Sweden wears a lot H&M....and Mathilde Natan....etc....

Bertie
26/9/2019 10:26:06 pm

Wendy, please don't worry about bothering me, you don't bother me at all, I'm only sorry to keep coming back to you. Almost as soon as I posted I thought of the exports so what you are saying makes sense to me. Thanks so much for your insight, it brings the blog to life for me! :)

Laura, I feel as long as comments are not offensive or insulting they are fine. This is after all a fashion/style blog. Why do we have to have censorship and rules on something that is supposed to be fun?
You can always skip over any comments that you don't find interesting. But some of us like to compare the royal ladies and that is reasonable IMHO.

It's very rare to be able to have these conversations given how strong feelings run in some quarters. I thought I'd risk it this once as admin keeps a motherly eye on us. The trick, as you are saying, is to keep the tone civilised :)

Sandy (and others) I realize that this is a fashion/style blog, but I have concerns that it strays to other topics and other people so often. Of course, I have the option not to read this blog, or to skip over comments that I don't care for. It is just that the blog's title is "Queen Letizia's Style." It is not Meghan's style, it is not anyone else's style, it is not a political forum. I have great admiration and respect for Letizia; I love her sense of fashion. I don't come here to read the other stuff that often overshadows what Letizia is wearing. To suddenly start a discussion about Meghan, as you will see above, is irrelevant to what Letizia is doing. Again I say that I often dislike Meghan's outfits, but this, in my opinion, is not the venue to express that.

Simone
26/9/2019 11:53:41 pm

In my humble opinion, the blog is not only about "style" if not about what Letizia is doing and where...the bloggers, Elizabeth and Jenny work a lot to know it and to translate it to English., they offer videos, etc ...
....maybe you have no interest but I read this blog because it is not only "fashion" and Elizabeth has interest in it....since the beggining....so it is politics, culture, sports, etc....she describes all their events....

Moreover you can't understand a woman so clever as Letizia only because of clothing....it would be awful for her...

Sandy
27/9/2019 12:35:05 am

With all due respect to everyone participating in this blog, I think Elizabeth is the only person who has the right to decide what can and can't be discussed.. She is the creator of Queen Letizia Style and we all appreciate her dedication. She has stated her position so I think we should all accept it.

Sadly I still don't like this dress, it looks a bit on the cheap side to me and doesn't count as a High Street win. Maybe I find the fabric too heavy round an off-shoulder neckline, it's bulky and inelegant. I find the dress cut awkward and the hang a bit off so it's almost pulled out of shape by seating. The raw edges are also too crude for me in that fabric -- I must stop moaning, I'm sure it's not that bad, and I'm at the end of a long day of royal fashion commenting. Thanks so much for keeping this wonderful blog up to speed at a busy time. And it gets worse tomorrow when another BritRoyal steps out on duty!!

I am with those who are not enamored of this dress. It hangs instead of flowing, and needs some old fashioned starch to make the fabric assume a better shape. However, keeping it simple as in previous years leaves the focus on the event instead of the outfit. ... The Letizia of 2015 had the vibe of a stylish, modern, glamorous young queen. as opposed to the mom of teenagers 2019 look. .
With regard to Meghan, there are people who inject her into forums to steer the topic in their desired direction. The clothes on this trip may be underwhelming, but her body is in a transition stage where it may not make sense to purchase new things until she establishes a desired weight. Some women never return to their original size..

She is a mum of teenagers..also in a month Leonor is turning 14 years old and she is goinng to attend the Prncess of Asturias Awards for the fist time, she is the Crown Princess so if we followed a Royal strict protocol, Leonor would have higher rank than Letizia.....so...she should step aside a bit....

I do not know Meghan Markle so I can't speak about her fashion, I do not know the culture either in US, her homeland or UK where she lives....so I wouldn't dare to speak about it....I have no idea about hats, coats, facinators, coat dresses or those things....so I try to not interfere....and I speak about my Queen and my country....who is sometimes criticised without any knowledge ....
