Queen Letizia is a picture of Springtime perfection for lunch with Mexican President and First Lady

King Felipe and Queen Letizia welcomed the President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, and First Lady Angélica Rivera at their home today in the Palace of Zarzuela.

Letizia looked a picture of Springtime perfection in a new floral patterned coat by American-Venezuelan designer Carolina Herrera.

The pastel pink coat features a shirt-style club collar and double-breasted bodice. The piece is from the designer's Pre-Fall 2018 collection which also has a couple of dresses with the same 'orchid' pattern. The approximate retail price is US$4,290.

We saw the return of the green stone encrusted statement ring which complemented Letizia's new green reptile skin clutch bag.

It is reportedly the 'Letizia' model from the brand Lidia Faro as stated on their Instagram page.  However, I am not convinced. Firstly I don't see any twist lock hardware on the front of the bag which is a prime feature of Lidia Faro's 'Letizia' model. I believe the bag Letizia is carrying has a snap button closure which I've circled below.  Furthermore the flap of the green clutch has a double stitch trim whereas no bags by Lidia Faro have this detail. I rest my case until proven otherwise!

Letizia teamed the ensemble with her pink LODI 'Vela' suede pumps.

She finished the look with her Coolook 'Sarin' earrings featuring aventurine quartz and pink quartz stones.

Cute coat and very spring like. I do, however, find it a bit juvenile for someone Letizia's age. It looks like something a 13 year old would wear.

I agree and I think it's because the buttons stop so high up on the waist that gives it a baby doll effect. I think if the buttons had gone down the entire length of the coat it would look less juvenile especially since florals can read young and the rainbow colored stitching reads young.

I agree. This coat is juvenile looking. Such a switch from the matronly outfits of the previous two days. The floral print on this coat is somewhat dreadful. The design of the coat is nice but the pattern, not so much. The shoes, however, are stunning.

Laura, I wholeheartedly agree with you that it looks juvenile however even today's 13 year old wouldn't wear this. More likely this is an outfit for little girls in the 4-8 age group.

You are correct, Sandy. Today's 13 year olds are in jeans and T-shirts. Your age range of 4–8 years is more the little girl look of this pink outfit.

This is one of Letizia's best looks ever. Perfect head to toe. Every single piece of the outfit is a dream. The shoes are soooo beautiful! 💟💟💟💟💟

I see what you mean, Laura!. This is the sort of coat and colour scheme that my 3 year old wears, but...I love it! I love how she pulled out the chrome green out of the pattern and used it in her clutch, I love the pumps, even love the earrings even though I'm often annoyed with her for wearing semi-precious when she's got so much of the proper stuff in her jewellery box. I love that chunky ring too; I wonder of these are demantoids or maybe tsavorites? Has Felipe been shopping at Tiffany's? :)

A rare miss in my opinion. The pale pink outfit she wore for Cervantes yesterday was stunning, this is not so flattering. I don't think that the cut or pattern suits her. Elegant and polished as ever but not her best look.

Lately, Letizia has been wearing outfits that are either too old or too young for her. This is definitely too young. It looks like she is going to a birthday party rather than a meeting with the Mexican president.
The style of the coat as well as the colour & print scream "little girl". I must say this is the first time I have seen another woman outshining Letizia. Angelica Rivera looks gorgeous and is much better dressed than Leti.

I like the combination of colours- green and rose, very nice! But I don"t like this flower pattern on the coat...

This one is going to be divisive. The pattern reminds me of a night shirt and I agree with Laura that the cut looks juvenile. I can, however, appreciate that some might see it as spring-like and cute. That said, the accessories have a mature feel so while they match in colour, to me they don't match in tone. I also don't like the shoes.

I really like what the Mexican first lady is wearing! Head to toe.

I only can think about the heat. She must have prepared this ensemble in advance, nevertheless the temperature was about 27-28 Celsius degrees in Madrid that day and for the whole week. Today is dropping though.

I wholeheartedly agree with Laura! This outfit probably could have been salvaged with a pair of grey pants under the coat. But unfortunately, this is a rare fail for me from Letizia.

At first sight I thought what a shame the coat hemline wasn't on or over the knee, because if it was the outfit might have had a Jackie O vibe - however, on second thoughts, that would just extend the overly girlish silhouette even more. The clutch, earrings and ring are lovely.

And very Queen Rania, I think, just in a different colour scheme.

I don't like it, I am 48 years old and I don't dress like that. Outdated. Nobody in Spain goes to work like that nowadays.

Maybe they do in Mexico, Paloma :)

It could be, I don't know Mexico.

I really don't get this coat at all and am amazed it could have come from CH. Thank you for the fabric close-ups which at least show the pattern is very pretty, if perhaps better suited to upholstery. But the pink colour and high-waisted double-breasted style looks more like something for a 5-year-old than an adult. At least I love the clutch!!
