Queen Letizia is belle of the ballet in a striped Carolina Herrera tank dress

Following yesterday's girls day out in Palma, the Spanish royal ladies were reunited for an evening at the ballet. Queen Letizia was pictured leaving the Auditorium of Palma de Mallorca alongside her daughters Leonor and Sofia, and her mother-in-law Queen Sofia.  The family had seen a performance of Swan Lake in the Mallorcan capital.

Queen Letizia stepped out in a new black and white striped knit tank dress.  The midi length frock has a scoop neck and fluted skirt.  It is a piece from Carolina Herrera's Resort 2019 collection.

Letizia carried a black leather piped clutch bag first seen last summer in Palma, and on her feet she wore her Manolo Blahnik 'Gotrianc' Slingbacks 105 heels.

The Spanish queen finished the look with pave diamond hoop earrings which may be her Coolook Roma hoop earrings.

This dress is so Letizia. Black and white is classic and I do like the way that the stripes fan out. At first I thought her shoes were too dressy when compared to the running shoes /sneakers worn by many others in the photo. Then I read that they had attended the ballet. So yes, dress shoes were appropriate and it is the others who are very casual. The earrings are also perfect for this occasion.

That photo was taken at the Port, not by the Auditorium so people are not dressed for the ballet, the had not attended it.

The photos taken by Carlos R. Alvarez/GC Images confirm they were taken at the Auditorium of Palma de Mallorca after attending 'El Lago de los Cisnes' (Swan Lake) Ballet.

The Auditorium is at the Port, by the Paseo Marítomo, so people could gather there to see them, in facr that is the point.

Another appearance, we are so lucky! I hope they are getting some down time away from the cameras. Compared to the clean khaki jumpsuit we saw earlier in the week this dress feels a little dated. I love the flight of the skirt, it fits beautifully, the length is excellent and the Manolo Blahniks are the perfect compliment. It's the bodice that I am most unsure about, it reminds me of a swimming costume. In close up photos you notice that the weave of the knit is patterned and can see the white underlay through the black. I don't love everything that the Queen has worn by Carolina Herrera, originally I wondered whether this may have been a vintage piece. The look would have felt more modern (for me) with sleeker hairstyle and simpler earrings, perhaps a soft low ponytail and pearl or diamond studs. There is no denying that the Queen looks very striking and is appropriately attired for the ballet while on her vacation, it's just not for me. Completely changing the design of the dress here, but a halterneck style bodice in a red and pink colourway with a finer and tighter knit could have worked well. I have only seen positive comments about this look on blogs, so hopefully I am in the tiny minority.

Well, of course, the stripes 'fan' out, how well you put it! I couldn't think straight when trying to describe the effect and have come out garbled I think. Like you I wasn't sure about the strappy bodice but thought it looked better in close-up. I'd also thought the colour looked like navy and was a bit surprised to see it confirmed as black here. Nothing wrong with your being in a tiny minority, it's quality that counts here on QLSB, not crude numbers!!

Hi Bertie, thank you for understanding, I'm so pleased that everyone is enjoying this look. The great description of 'the stripes fan out' was Laura above I think, you weren't garbled at all in your post :o) Originally I thought the dress was navy and white, in the end I judged it by the colour of the accessories. If you haven't already seen there are some great photos on Hola.

My bad, it was Laura who had the stripes fanning out. Hope my other comments are more or less in line with yourself Jennifer!

All be it some years later, here is a similar dress to what I described I would prefer above. (From CH's Pre-Fall 2021 collection)

The Queen looks fantastic in this dress. The flow of the dress is spot on. Fit and length are just right, but those diamond hoop earrings are divine. Queen Sofia looks lovely, how wonderful she looks for her age. I am still in awe of seeing them out and about during their holidays with no fuss, just getting on with it. Leonor and Sofia are delightful.

Letizia looks just fantastic in this stylish Herrera which is straight out of her signature style book. Her holiday tan glows against the monochrome and I love the way the stripes broaden as they descend to the hem, the A-line shape and fluid knit fabric adding a quietly sensuous touch. The strappy bodice is perhaps reminiscent of a bathing costume, but that's hardly out of place in this holiday context. The strappy Blahnik style of shoe is a perfect complement to a striking outfit and the diamond hoops are superb.

I thought all four ladies looked particularly well, Queen Sofia's kaftan top is on-trend and a glorious colour on her, and both princesses look amazing as they develop their own style choices.

This is a very elegant & dramatic summer dress. I love how the white stripes start off narrow and flare out progressively wider towards the bottom. Black and white is usually a great combination and my personal favorite of the CH designs is the one with the solid black top and black/white flared skirt. The Manolo Blahnik shoes are gorgeous despite the plastics inlays. This is one time I don't mind plastic in shoes.

Hi Sandy, of the three Carolina Herrera styles the dress with the solid black/navy top was my favorite too, so elegant. I can imagine that these fluted skirts look wonderful in motion.

I am always amused at the trite comments of would be fashionistas.
Letizia is a fashion wizard. She takes it to the next level effortlessly

Love the dress by CH. Big hoop earrings add a nice touch. I like the solid black clutch. The shoes got too much detail however and take the focus off the unique stripe of the dress. Would have preferred solid black or her S.Madden mules.

Letizia very rarely has a miss fashion-wise in my book, so I feel like I am constantly praising her. :) But she indeed looks amazing. Also, she looks very healthy and glowing, which I really like. We all know how skinny she was (not body-shaming at all, I also tend to get skinny when I am super-stressed, that's why I recognize it), but she looks much better these days. I assume she is more relaxed in her Queen role, or maybe has more independency and it shows. Good for her.
