Queen Letizia is chic in checks for launch of school year

The Queen of Spain marked the start of the school year today with a visit to the Baudilio Arce school in her hometown of Oviedo.

She received a warm welcome from the young school children and Her Majesty reciprocated the delight.

As a mother, Queen Letizia looked right at home among the school children, and she displayed her natural affection toward to the pupils.

Her Majesty was given a tour of some of the classrooms where she took the opportunity to chat with the students.

WHAT QUEEN LETIZIA WORE

TOP: Hugo Boss 'Floriza' Gingham Wool Blend Knit Top (US$345). Debuted in June 2018 for Student Residence board meeting.

PANTS: I believe they could be her HUGO Hugo Boss 'Hotaru' Stretch Crepe Wide Leg Trouser with the high-waist buttons hidden by the top.

The angled pocket seams are a match.

SHOES: Navy Magrit pumps with contrast top (bespoke). Debuted in June 2018 for Student Residence board meeting.

EARRINGS: NEW! Gold & Roses 'Skyline' crawler earrings (€2,107).

I loved this Hugo Boss top when we first saw it and am delighted to see it back -- I don't mind how many times it comes out. White pants are a reasonable choice for a recycle though I think the check looked better with dark, my only other preference would be for slim-fit pants but I'm a stick-in-the-mud and unwilling to get on board with wide legs and crops. Letizia has a closer hold on fashion than me!

Interesting to see the same pumps are used again, though the two-tone leather looks a little out-of-place peeking out from the white pants. I would have thought plain dark pumps would finish it off better.

Love the new earrings, so snappy, a stellar choice. Overall the outfit is a thumbs up from me as I prefer to set aside my own minor niggles. Letizia looks so at home with the tinies :)

The outfit is appropriate for the visit to the school. But the top reminds me of a very similar Hugo Boss "Karolie" check jacket Letizia wore in Nov. 2017. Both items are a bit matronly. I much prefer the top the model is wearing in the photo highlighting the white pants. The navy/white print is much more striking.

No surprises.. Letizia is the best ambassador for Hugo Boss, but frankly, I can't see it anymore. Waiting for Kate and Meghan :). Where are they?
