The Queen of Spain returned to her hometown of Oviedo today to inaugurate the 2018 summer courses of the International School of Music, which is supported by the Princess of Asturias Foundation.

Upon arrival, Queen Letizia spent time chatting and greeting the crowd that had gathered outside to catch a glimpse of their native royal.

WHAT QUEEN LETIZIA WORE

DRESS: NEW! Hugo Boss 'Caddli' stretch-denim dress with bell cuffs and ribbon belt (£179).

HANDBAG: Cognac embossed leather clutch. This piece has been in Letizia's closet for many years but the brand is unknown.

SHOES: NEW! Carolina Herrera navy suede slingback pumps.

EARRINGS: A mix and match of the Gold&Roses Sun Balance earrings and the Milky Way earrings.

I like how Letizia turned the belt inside out to make the denim dress appear less sporty and casual.

I like this dress on Letizia, however, given the extremely hot temperatures, a long sleeved, denim dress seems a strange choice. She must have been sweltering. I prefer the more summery looks from past years. I usually like Letizia's earrings, but I find this combo too gimmicky. Her tooled leather purse looks very Spanish.

In the North of Spain there's not hot, between 17-20C degrees and it rains a lot, obviously she knows her own land..

Amaia and Sonia, I stand to be corrected. I've been to Spain in the summer time and was overwhelmed by the heat. Good to know that there are cooler parts and that Letizia chose wisely in her fashion.

Laura, there are 5 different climates in Spain and subclimates.... There are an Atlantic part (North ans South), the Bay of Biscay, The interior North, The interior South, And the Mediterranean (North and South)..then the high mountains and the Pyrenees...Complecated...
You probably have been to Valencia where the heat and humidity is awfull.

Sonia, Yes, it was very hot in Valencia. It was hot all along the Mediterranean. But I also found it to be hot in Barcelona and in Madrid. I was just resigned to thinking that Spain is extremely hot in the summer. Once I was in Denia in April and found it to be so hot I felt faint. I guess people who live in Spain become accustomed to the high temperatures.

I have never been to Denia..You should go to other places, as Bilbao, San Sebastian, Santiago, Asturias, Santander, León Granada, etc... Barcelona is the Mediterranean part also, Valencia and Madrid are a the typical for English people...In fact the hottest, the rest is not so hot....
We avoid those places in summer, only tourists go. .We holiday by the North, or by the mountains, in the South-East (Huelva and Cadiz), or the Canary Islands however all of them are more expensive..
We wonder how the foreigners can lie on the beach for hours in the sun. .The Danish government has asked Spain to teach them how vacation in the Sun....We only go to the beach before 11am or after 5pm...

It seems that the weather is going to improve next week in the North, in fact where the best beaches..Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria are very green and the Basque Country looks like Switzerland..

She is always dressed beautifully. I love that she wears her favorites more than one time. The King and Queen have visited St. Augustine and we love that they come to our city.

I am surprised that Queen's are allowed to wear denim for official duties. For instance, I can only wear denim to work on casual Fridays. But the style is a classic coat dress and because it is dark denim it looks more formal. From a distance it looks like a fine navy fabric. I think Letizia looks great and I love all things denim. I would like to get a denim dress but it's hard to find them these days. And I don't want to pay 179 euros.

Sandy, on Thursday, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex also wore a denim dress. I do agree that it is a casual look, although as you state, a dark denim is more dressy. Anyway, it is good to know that even royalty doesn't always have to wear the formal look.

Laura, yes I know everyone was talking about it. I was shocked that Meghan's dress cost 2,357 euros which is much more expensive than Letizia's. I think she wore it to watch polo so might not be official. Hard to believe but that amount of money would cover some people's rent for one or two months!

In Spain if you have those rules, you are working for the Santander Bank, for example. So you earns a lot of money and you wear outfits about 200euros and more..... You can't wear Zara, Mango, H&M or something.....If not the company will provide you with a uniform....It have no sense to oblige someone to have a dress code not earning so much money

To tell you the truth, Amaia I really can't tell the difference between some clothes that are moderately priced and those that are super expensive. It all depends on the person wearing it and how they style themselves, there posture, attitude etc. Some stylish & talented people can make thrift stores clothes look like designer outfits.

If Letizia were dressed so strict, the Monarchy would be abolished again in Spain, people won't allow that type of archaic reigns.

Seems there must have been a royal memo out this week to wear denim. It's a beautifully crafted classic shirtwaister from Hugo Boss though I prefer the stripey belt to show and break up the dark navy. Clever work with the earrings, clutch is a perfect denim accessory, not so sure about slingback shoes as I think a more solid court would balance with the dark garment. But Letizia looks amazing as always. Your throwback pics point up how sharp Letizia's weight loss was a couple of years ago. Glad she came through so well

Even though she has gained weight I think Letizia still looks very slender and slim. I can't imagine how super thin she was some years ago. And the camera adds weight so she is 10 lbs lighter than she appears in the pictures.

These young women like Letezia, Catherine, Meghan need to watch their feet, which are starting to look quite old due to being in heels so much and having their feet squished all the time. Tops of their feet are wrinkled and worn looking.....shriveled.

JoAnn, you should add Melania Trump to the list. Most of the time she wears what looks like 5 inch stilettos. I don't know how she descends the stairs on Air Force One with those stilts. I would be afraid of falling and breaking my neck. I think she holds on very tight to her hubby's arm.
