The prestigious Rei Jaume I Awards was created in 1989, with the objective of bringing together scientific and business entities for the promotion of research and scientific development in Spain.  There are currently six awards, each endowed with €100,000 and a gold medal, with the commitment to reinvest part of the amount in research and entrepreneurship in Spain.

Her Majesty presented the awards, which was followed by her speech and a meeting with this year's winners.
Queen Letizia later received a representation of the Local Police of Valencia on the occasion of its 150th anniversary. Currently, the Local Police of Valencia is structured in seven District units strategically distributed throughout the city, consisting of 1,495 officers, of which 230 are women. Her Majesty was given a commemorative plaque and a cap in memory of the anniversary.

Today she opted for solid coloured accessories. Letizia coordinated the look with her custom dove grey leather pointed-toe pumps by Magrit, and Hugo Boss suede flap clutch.

Beautiful outfit and the purple lining adds such pizazz. The dove grey shoes and purse are perfect. A truly wonderful look for Letizia.

This outfit is A++ and it looked even better today with the collar of the coat turned down a little to show the lavender lining! Well done, Queen Letizia!

This is one of the most elegant outfits, I have seen in a while, the Queen looks simply superb. Beautiful outfit, one of my favourites in not only style but colour. The coat and dress are tailored perfectly, right down to the lined coloured belt. Her choice of shoes and bag, fabulous choice. Its lovely to see this outfit get another wear.

I'm sure I ought to like this Herrera outfit, beautifully tailored as it is, but can't seem to get mast the matchy-matchiness today. The woven fabric looks almost as if everything has been made out of a blanket. That I am sure is an entirely unfair comment, as I am more than happy to concede that the resulting stiffness makes for a suitably formal edge to convey a regal presence, perfect when presenting awards. It's certainly very cute when her hem has flipped up to reveal the purple undertone, but that again only wakes up my blanket aversion once more. The Queen looks beautiful, she always does, and I'm glad she's had so much use from such a worthy outfit. The plain accessories are exactly right.

This has the makings of an investment piece. No matter the cost, it is well made and timeless. It can be pulled out of the closet to make a grand appearance almost anywhere for years to come The shoes are a gorgeous alternative to the reptile print used in previous outings.
The blanket reference is fair since the thickness is comparable to felt. Either the two colors of yarn were woven to show only on one side to achieve that thickness, or two thin layers were fused together for that effect. To be a little more technical, the colors match because purple as a base color was probably combined with the grey of the outer shell instead of white to create that exact shade of lilac. The accessories do not compete with the outfit for prominence.
Of course, she looked beautiful, delivered her speech in two languages and represented both herself and the monarch well.

Thanks for explaining the blanket vibe so expertly!
