On her final day in Mozambique, Queen Letizia traveled to Beira to see first hand the devastation caused by Cyclone Idai which hit the region in March.

Her Majesty then moved further inland to Dondo to visit the Spanish humanitarian response team (START) in the wake of the cyclone.  Known as the red vests, the START is composed of a field hospital with surgical capacity and hospitalization, as well as a total of 71 people, among whom are health personnel of the Spanish public health service.

You can never go wrong with a crisp white shirt and stone coloured trousers. A classic and appropriate outfit which sits well under the Spanish Cooperation red waistcoat. The boots were most likely needed for walking on multiple surfaces throughout the course of the day - a sensible choice. I saw a short compilation video and Letizia seemed very warm and interested, I hope much good will come of the projects implemented.

In Spain people say that she could have repeat more...It was a trip to supervise what the Spanish cooperation is doing, not a fashion one.

Hi Simone and Wendy, it's so interesting to know viewpoints in Spain, thank you for your insight. I thought the message of this trip came across very clearly, it was to highlight the important work the Spanish Cooperation are doing, fighting against diseases such as malaria and helping in the aftermath of the Cyclones - as it should have been. The clothing chosen I felt was sensitive of this, two new dresses were debuted but I thought they were understated and honoured her hosts. I thought she struck a good balance of keeping the focus firmly on the engagements while still looking respectful. Perhaps all repeats would have been more appropriate...

Hi Jennifer, the thing is she owns an entire outfit which is almost similar...the trousers are Hugo Boss, ok foreigner, however the shirt was by an Asturian designer ..."Imiloa"....
In boots since the arriving it is too much, which is that people say here, jeans, boots, t-shirts...

She has worn only Spanish brands, CH, Intropia, PdH and Massimo Ditti which is what the Spaniards want...
Also people hate Varela, too much Hugo Boss as well..

Hi Wendy and Simone, I agree that both outfits are almost identical - initially I thought it was the same outfit (worn on 08/09/18). I completely understand the confusion, why not just wear the old pieces? Hopefully the new shirt/trousers increased sales for Massimo Dutti. I'm sorry to hear that people dislike Varela and Hugo Boss (I understand HB not being Spanish - is there a Spanish equivalent to HB?) I think both brands have served her well. I do appreciated that there are lots of other exciting Spanish designers which could be showcased, although this is happening with new designers such as Roberto Torretta and Delpozo being introduced. It is great to hear what the Spaniards think, many thanks!

Agree, a cooperation trip to supervise the work the Spaniards are doing there as a hospital to cure the malaria and the help after the two cyclones they have suffered last week. Fashion has been discreet....

Letizia in combat boots is a sight for sore eyes! I'm not sure it's fair to evaluate such a workaday outfit in fashion terms, otherwise I might start niggling that the trousers look oddly baggy over those boots. But crisp white shirt and tan crop pants are a classic combo and Massimo Dutti has served her well in both respects.

This trip should definitely not be assessed in fashion terms. Spain sponsors these programs so that people do not emigrate in large numbers to avoid poverty, diseases etc. and increase the pressure on the social services in Spain itself.

It pains that 'people in Spain' expect the Queen to pinch pennies, euros etc. even though her outfits cost much less than the others Repeats are fine, but on the other hand, it will be the same designer, so the others will not get their pieces into her wardrobe to help the retail workers and 'fashion industry' in Spain. The Queen is the face of country on these occasions and must look the part., that is, crisp, fresh and interested. We do not know if she has worn the Covadonga outfit away from the cameras and it no longer gives the same effect. The boots were probably insurance against falling as she almost did in the RD. Jeans and t-shirts are unacceptable. As a direct comparison, here is Queen Sofia in Maputo in 2013 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRAgbbmkgxA

Anna, I afraid that people here do not follow the British Royal family and their arrives in heels and hats, because of that they think it is odd a plane ladder and heels. I do not know what Queen Sofía used to do, back in the day as internet and the social networks did not exist we were not very informed. She wears something more "safari" which is good in Africa. However I think that the most important is the work and Letizia is a journalist and I bet she enjoys these things.

It is true that CH and Nina Ricci belong to the Spanish group "Puig", however they are not seen as that, and designers as Dolores Promesas, Duyos, Matilde Cano, Devota&Lomba , Alicia Rueda, Purificación García, etc....are not seen, only the medium cost as Massimo Dutti or Adolfo Dominguez or the low cost, Zara which does not need publicity....

Varela is seen as outdate and overelaborate in general, and Hugo Boss as foreigner..

I do not agree with all the comments , nevertheless opinions most of the time are so different here......Maybe politics is mixed...I do not know exactly....

It is still puzzling that people in Spain make note of a pair of 59 euro pants because she has another that they have seen. Most of our mothers had new clothes made for special occasions even if we had other outfits in the closet. In fact most women also own several pairs of black pants and jeans. Not following the British monarchy is fine, but she did wear Matilde Cano in New Orleans, and Duyos in Palma 2 years ago. Hopefully she gets to choose her own clothes.
