King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain are on an official State Visit to the Republic of Portugal. The three-day visit will serve to highlight and strengthen the historical ties and bilateral relations between the two Iberian countries.
Following a short flight across the border, Their Majesties received a formal welcome when they landed at Porto Airport.
The royal couple were then escorted to Liberdade Square and officially welcomed by the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
They were also greeted by thousands of admirers.
Queen Letizia kicked off the mini royal tour in a beautiful dusty pink outfit from her head-designer, Felipe Varela.
The set consists of a guipure coat and tonal sheath dress. Letizia first wore it for the wedding of Prince Guillaume Of Luxembourg and Stéphanie de Lannoy in 2012.
She again choose to pair the ensemble with the matching Felipe Varela suede clutch and gloves.
Letizia changed up the look with her pink Magrit reptile-patterned pumps and sported a new pair of pink-toned waterfall baroque pearl earrings.
Their provenance was initially a mystery until one of my astute readers suggested they originate from the guipure coat! The coat was originally decorated with tonal pink pearls as shown in the image below from 2012.
Today we see the coat no longer features the pearls.
We received confirmation from Felipe Varela that the earrings were created from the pearls and beads on the coat.
Queen Letizia complemented her glamorous style with an elegant chignon.
Later this evening, the Spanish royals will attend a gala dinner in Guimaraes, Portugal.
