FASHION FLASHBACK
Below is a look back at Letizia's past outfit for this awards ceremony which launched in 2014.  She did not attend the 2nd edition of the awards ceremony because her grandfather passed away the night before the event, however she did receive the winners at the Palace of La Zarzuela in April of 2016.

Oh, that skirt! Love it!! Love the design, how it flows, and the shoes she paired with it. Two thumbs up 👍🏻 👍🏻

The CH coat is beautiful. I like the rest of the outfit but I think the pleated skirt is more of a warm weather item rather than for autumn/fall. My preference would be to wear it with a low heel shoe or boots. I think long skirts or dresses don't work with high heels. The fitted blouse was a good choice to balance the fullness of the skirt.

In theory, the simple black blouse should work perfectly with the gold statement skirt.  Sadly, the two garments do not flow fluidly together. The long ties detract from the pleats and the silver buttons down the front of the blouse appear harsh against the soft chiffon-like fabric.  Fortunately, the ties mostly cover them. The dark lighting inside the venue adds a heaviness to the ensemble, it looked better outside in the natural light. The skirt is from Massimo Dutti's summer collection, the length and neutral hue allow it to pass as a transitional piece. It may have been complementary to style the skirt with items in tonal colours such as a slouchy sweater tucked partly into the waistband, a fitted turtleneck or a plain silk blouse, along with a waist belt and suede knee-length boots. I appreciate that this outfit showcases several Spanish companies/designers for the Fashion Awards, but overall, I would have preferred a different repeat which is a shame as the skirt looked fabulous on its first wearing (19/06/20).
My favourite ensemble for this event is 2014. I'm not sure who designed it, but I assume it may be Varela, based on the impeccable fit and embellished skirt. I adore the delicacy of the semi-sheer blouse, and the crystal trimmings provided the perfect amount of drama to the clean lines. The Queen's choice of muted accessories provided further elegance to the look.

I agree the blouse ties are an embellishment too far with the texture of the fine pleats, but as they were plain and discreet I decided to give them a pass!

Unusual for Letizia, the pieces of this outfit really don't work well together. The CH coat, although beautiful, looks sloppy thrown unbuttoned over the shoulders. A plain black top without ties would have complimented the skirt better. There is nothing cohesive about this look.

I love the combination of black and gold, but I think the blouse is a bit fussy. I simple black knit would have looked more polished. I love the skirt and accessories.

I am not a fan of uneven hemlines and this is no different. I love the blouse, but just not with this skirt. The CH jacket is flawlessly gorgeous.

The Massimo Dutti skirt has elements I often don't like in the shape of knife pleats and asymmetric hem, but in this instance I find it highly successful. The fabric of the skirt is light enough to keep it flowing and fitting without overwhelming the wearer with fabric. The black blouse is perfect with the soft neutral skirt and the Herrera coat is a beautiful classic. The ensemble clicks with me.
