The act brought together the highest institutions of Spain along with the European Union and representatives of the groups of national and international victims of terrorism. The European Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Terrorism was established after the Madrid attacks on the 11th of March 2004.  It honours victims who have been left with consequences or who have lost their lives due to terrorist attacks.

Queen Letizia wore her black Carolina Herrera mabe pearl button wool coat, paired with her Steve Madden 'Dominique' over-the-knee suede boots.

Another very sombre outfit, but of course, most fitting for the occasion. The pearl buttons on the coat add embellishment and interest. I always like the effect of high boots with a coat, where no flesh is shown. It makes for a very cohesive look.

Actually in Spain she has been criticized because the protocol that the government set up was not mourning, in photos you can see the Vice President in white and the President of the Autonomous r
Region of Madrid in burdeox.
However almost nobody wear black to the funerals nowadays in Spain, it is a colour for evening parties.

In many parts of the world white is considered the colour for mourning, so both are appropriate. I think that Letizia shows respect in all that she does.

I was wondering about the woman in the white pantsuit. So, what color is considered appropriate at funerals or memorials in Spain? I think black can go either way depending on the style of the dress or outfit, personally.

Darla, people wear anything, mourning does not exist anymore. Actually many funerals are not even religious.

The beautifully cut Herrera coat with the Madden boots are the perfect combination for remembrance duties.Softening feminine touches lie in the flare of the coat skirt and the elegant boot heels, keeping Letizia on the right side of chic while retaining full respect for the occasion.

This is a very sophisticated look. I love this CH wool coat, combined with the SM over-the-knee suede boots, the Queen looks fabulous. I am not a fan of these type of boots, wearing them in this fashion, I love it.
