Tonight she accessorized with the same pieces she wore for the Argentinean gala banquet dinner in March. Letizia carried the gold Carolina Herrera Metropolitan Insignia clutch.

She's glowing in that 7th pic. Red halter dress really agrees with her. I don't like the sandals she wore with it. Not a fan of sandals.

This look is beautiful in it's simplicity, it reminds me of iconic Calvin Klein slip dresses from the 90's with it's streamlined silhouette and fluid fabric which glides over her figure. The racer cut bodice looks modern and the elegant skirt cascades into a floaty hem. I'm pleased that metallic accessories were chosen, gold and red are an opulent combination. Styling was wisely kept simple, the only detail is the texture on the Carolina Herrera clutch. I don't usually like platforms on sandals but these work boldly with the dress and match the frame of the clutch and hoop earrings. I did wonder whether swept back hair in a chignon would have revealed the neckline more, but the unity of the unfussy hair against the clean design works well.

I think looks 2017 and 2016 were exceptional. 2017, I would have preferred a delicate pair of gold sandals to match the jewellery and a tiny enamel box clutch depicting one of the more delicate colours in the embroidery. I didn't like the red sandals and found the suede clutch a little bland. The bespoke Juan Duyos dress was stunning! A special piece, showcasing culture in Spain and excellent craftsmanship. The styling of the gold almond flower earrings and soft updo were perfect. 2016, faultless! I loved that everything came from relatively unknown Spanish designers (to me) each item highlighting an exciting company. The Juan Vidal dress was unique and unexpected, I adored the scarlet satin stripes from neck to sleeves, the colours in the abstract print were beautifully matched with the Coolook earrings. The Malababa purse was an unusual find, I hadn't seen anything like it before. I would imagine that each bag is unique to it's owner with the agate stone clasp, I doubt any two are identical. The outfit coordinated harmoniously without feeling contrived and felt perfect for a balmy night in glorious palace surroundings.

Yes, I agree 2016 was a beautiful, well put together outfit. I absolutely hated 2018.

Hi Sandy, I didn't like 2018 either. I thought that the colours in the skirt were divine but the skirt sat and hung badly. It was far too low on the waist and looked heavy. I think it may have worked better as a simple sheath dress with the print gradually fading to the mid thigh and paired with a fabulous pair of sandals in one of the colours in the print. I found the platforms on the navy Magrit pair clumpy.

Another lovely red dress. I can't keep count over how many red dresses the Queen has at this point. This one is very simple and elegant with the skirt at a perfect length. I'm amazed she is wearing sandals and has for the past 6 years. I thought someone mentioned she got a lot of criticism for that and was not allowed to wear them. Maybe because this is a holiday she can wear what she likes.

I am curious as to who would "not allow" the Queen to wear whatever shoes she wished to wear. I am not being snarky, I am seriously curious.

In fact nobody can "not allow", she sets the protocol ( except at military or diplomatic events) but I guess that the what the Spanish media says has influence.

Vickie, I think I used the wrong words when I said "not allowed". I should have said she was "criticized" for wearing sandals and showing her feet. As a result she rarely wears sandals. One of the Spanish ladies on this blog brought out that point.

Is it me, or did she do something different with her eye make up?
Love this look, she looks so nice and very summery.
Her 2017 look is still one of my favorite looks ever.

In the close-up it looks almost as if she has more liner than usual on her lower lid. Certainly smoky eyes for evening!

I love Queen Letizia but why is Queen Sophia always with them. She should retire now that she is no longer Queen. Always has to be with them. Let the family vacation by themselves and give them bonding time.

Susan W., I've always thought that it showed a strong family bond, that Queen Sophia was with them. I do wonder why we seldom see Sophia with her husband Juan Carlos? I realize that he abdicated in 2014 and has now retired from public life. But surely he and his wife could hang out together and not let Sophia be a third wheel with Felipe and Letizia.

Considering the history of the former King vis a vie his extramarital activities, I doubt they spend, or want to spend, time together. I do agree Q Sophia seems to be around a lot.

Marivent has always been Sofía's favorite vacation place. Felipe has not wanted to send her to other place so Felipe and Family in fact are not at Marivent if not in a smaller house near, he seems it was a bit odd that her mother could not have her vacations there anymore.
The Balearic Govermment allows they spend their vacations there, however they must prommote the Island, as I said before the palaces in Spain are all public.
Sofia and Juan Carlos have been separated for more that 40 years, she is very conservative and has not asked for the divorce, she is Greek Orthodox

PS: I am in Brasil, right now.....Have good vacations!!

I love everything about this dress...colour, style, material. Letizia showcases fashion so very well. The only quibble I have with this look is that the shoes, although listed as gold, appear silver on my computer and tablet. If they are indeed gold, they do not match the clutch or earrings in tone. Also the shoes with their platform look dated.

Your heading is quite right, this is absolutely stunning from Letizia, the elegance and simplicity are breathtaking. In some close-ups I thought I saw texture in the dress fabric which certainly hangs like a dream and has lovely swing in movement. Interesting that she's gone for another string strap top ,albeit in halter-neck style this time, as per the recent bold black-and-white Herrera. Accessories are spot-on,a holiday vibe in the weave pattern of the Herrera clutch and in the impeccable elegance of the open-toe Jimmy Choo sandals. The Coolook hoops are a perfect finishing touch especially against such dark glossy hair. Brava, Letizia!

The Queen looks stunning, red really suits her. Love the dress and the halter neckline. Her shoes are gorgeous. Queen Sophia looks very elegant, the colour is very becoming on her. The King, is a very handsome man, very distinguished-looking .

Yay, sandals! I'm glad she didn't quit of wearing them. And she wears sandals every year for this occasion. 😊

Love the dress, but the shot of her feet in those shoes made me wince. Why do women do this to themselves? They will be cripples later in life,

It seems ironic given all those gym hours and rigidly controlled diet that these good ladies then set about doing serious damage to their feet. They may not be crippled exactly, but some painful surgery could be in the offing.

Most women in Spain has suffered that damage in their feet. Nowadays new generations are more fond of "confort" and only wear that kind of shoes at special events. My mum used to wear high heels every day.
