The Queen of Spain chaired a working meeting with The Urgent Spanish Foundation -FundéuRAE (La Fundación del Español Urgente) on Tuesday at the Royal Spanish Academy, Madrid.
The FundéuRAE is a non-profit organisation founded in February 2005, the result of an agreement between the EFE Agency and the BBVA bank, with the advice of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), whose main objective is to promote the good use of Spanish in the media. Its team of journalists, linguists, lexicographers, orthotypegraphers, proofreaders and translators offer recommendations and answers daily queries, to aid those who use the language in their work.
Her Majesty has followed the work of FundéuRAE since 2005 and accepted her honorary presidency in January 2021. Queen Letizia was informed of the projects and works in development that the Foundation plans to carry out in 2021 including the potential points on the new edition of the Language and Journalism Congress, which will take place after the summer in San Millán de la Cogolla.

Queen Letizia looks youthful and stylish. How exciting to see a new statement coat! The gingham print and straight cut are striking in their simplicity. Fit is perfect, the water-repellent fabric hangs nicely and subtle details including the leather cuff tabs and high back vent add interest to the clean lines. Skin-tight leather trousers will always be in fashion but a looser cut may look more sophisticated and relevant (link below). A looser fit would also prevent the bunching of leather around the knees which shortens the length of the trousers. Several years ago I saw a gorgeous Sonia Rykiel double-breasted gingham trench coat paired with a white silk shirt, vibrant dusty-rose cropped trousers and praline pumps. The colour combination looked beautiful. In the future, I would love to see Letizia try something similar and add one garment of colour (emerald green straight-leg trousers, camel A-line skirt...) along with complementary accessories to the Mirto trench coat and a white top.

This is a modern, edgy look. The coat is a total win, it looks fabulous on, love this. The leather pants in this instance work in well, as to the top.

I love the coat & white top but the leggings need to go.

I'm afraid I find the Mirto check a bit of a mixed blessing as I think the pattern possibly better seen from a distance. It looks a bit fierce close up, though it's very good for a queen who wants to be noticed in a photo. It's a lovely neat trench coat.
