On the fourth and final day of the Cuba State Visit, the King and Queen of Spain visited Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, where Goya's self-portrait is on loan from the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid, from the 11th November - 12th December during the capital's 500th-anniversary celebrations. The museum opened in 1913 and houses Cuban art collections from the colonial times up to contemporary generations.

Later in the morning, Their Majesties travelled to the Centro de Inmunología Molecular de Cuba (Center for Molecular Immunology of Cuba) whose aim is to obtain and produce new bio-pharmaceuticals for the treatment of cancer and other non-transmissible diseases.

In the afternoon they flew to Santiago de Cuba where they toured Castillo del Morro de San Pedro de la Roca, a military fortress which is declared a World Heritage Site. In the bulwark, they honoured fallen soldiers in a ceremony for the 'Squadron of the Admiral Cervera' who lost their lives in the combat of 1898.
To conclude their State Trip they visited the Memorial de la Loma de San Juan, the site of a decisive battle in the Hispano-Cuban War (Spanish-American War). A wreath was laid at the monument of the Spanish soldier and a reading was read.

TOUR RECAP
There were not too many sartorial surprises for the State Visit to Cuba. The Queen of Spain took a modest approach to her tour wardrobe and over 60% of the dresses she packed were a repeat.  Judging from the reader comments it's clear to see the mint Nina Ricci midi dress was the standout piece! Do you agree?

HM dressed very appropriately for visiting a country that is not financially well off. The mint dress is beautiful and a true winner; the pink chiffon overlay number truly ugly. It makes her look chunky and short, and is not flattering. I love the white dresses, and the white with dots dresses as well. She kept the jewelry appropriate as well.

Thanks for the tour recap, Elizabeth. It is good to see it consolidated that way.

Navy and white is a fresh look and that is just how this dress presents.

The outfit choices worked well for this tour. Nina Ricci, won hands down for me, truly beautiful dress, with stunning shoes and bag, the colour tone was perfect. Jewellery pieces were subtle, and effective. Massimo Dutti for the final day. I really like this lovely dress. Shoes, clutch and skinny belt worked in really well.

I love your comments Ava, you manage to sum so much up in a minimum of sentences -- a vital asset for impatient online readers. Always enjoy seeing you and learn lots from you about how to pay attention to the whole look.

Thanks for the roundup Elizabeth! Even though there weren't too many sartorial surprises as you said, I loved following this tour. I enjoyed reading about the engagements and the places they visited.

I too agree the Nina Ricci dress was the stand out. I think Letizia got the balance right for this tour. She was considerate and sensitive, and she added something new when it was appropriate.

I'm so grateful you keep this blog going, and a huge thanks to Jennifer for helping you!

I'd like to second you, Milly, this has been a most beautifully presented tour with very prompt posts and I'd like to thank Elizabeth very much, and especially if Jennifer was also beavering away in the background. It's been such a pleasure to follow, and I'm also delighted that the decision to keep the blog going has been vindicated by the level of support we have built up here. Congrats all round!!

Many thanks Elizabeth, you not only present the outfits perfect if not every event which must be very difficult for you as you do not speak the language and you do not know Spain's history and also you live Down Under.
You are a genious.

This is a fantastic example of how amazing the high street can be, a timeless piece that looks high end. I still can't believe that this dress is from Massimo Dutti and not a designer with it's considered and elegant details. The waist panel gives the illusion of a tapered fit, while the sumptuous knife pleats and print that increases in scale as it gradually descends the dress add an expensive quality to the garment. I believe the dress is lined, which helps the fabric fall and move beautifully (on the link below, you can see into the dress and I am sure there is navy lining). Considering the number of times this piece has been worn, I'm surprised Letizia didn't buy it in the reverse colour-way. I don't usually like royals buying multiple pieces of the same item, but this dress is undeniably chic and was fantastic value for money. The Nina Ricci was my favourite look of the tour, most likely the year! I also love this Massimo Dutti, it's fresh and stylish and the sophisticated accessories perfectly compliment the statement piece.

It's interesting that with the exception of the red dress, all the clothing worn on this visit was predominantly white and pastel colours. It's unusual for Letizia to have such a limited palette of colours.

White and light colored clothing is coolest in hot weather - I suspect that was a big factor in the Queen’s clothing choices for this trip.

For me the red halterneck dress is the winner. The slim design is very flattering and I love the metallic shoes. I am not a fan of these mid-calf dresses and the floaty, extra baggage in many of these pieces does nothing for anyone's figure, not even QL's! I hope she will return to more fitted pieces and the sharp tailoring in the future.

I'm very happy to have a safe finish to the tour, and to see this Massimo Dutti again, even if it is our second monochrome spot pattern of the tour. It's the kind of thing that's always safe to pull out of the wardrobe even on days when dressing up is the last thing you want to do, and an invaluable friend as a result. I like that Letizia sticks to navy accessories, the slingbacks work well in a summery climate and I think both belts look fine.

Favourite dress fo the tour is a poser, but I think I'll go along with the Nina Ricci as a top choice. It managed to tick all the boxes so brilliantly, being modest and safe, while also fresh and original in its use of the crinkle fabric to jazz up a plain shift. But the UFO red halterneck gives it a close run, it's a sensational number to wear, again with classic lines while retaining plenty of sensuous undertone. A brilliant choice, but I'll give it to Ricci on the grounds that one was new!
