Queen Letizia attended a meeting today with the Integra Foundation - a charity that supports people with disabilities to improve their wellbeing through job placement.
Her Majesty also toured the facilities during her visit to the organization's headquarters in Madrid.
The Spanish Queen stepped out in a new navy blue wool coat featuring a bouclé drop waist hem giving the illusion of a miniskirt. The piece is by CH Carolina Herrera from the designer's Fall 2015 collection. It is fashioned with a round neckline and fringe trim detail.
The runway design shown in the photo above has a fringe trim down the front and collar but the off-the-rack version which is identical to Letizia's (shown in the photo below) does not have this extra fringe detail. This listing on RealReal.com classifies the piece as a mini dress. The exposed full zip down the front adds versatility to the design which means it can be worn as a coat or on its own as a dress.
Letizia teamed the garment with her blue Uterque leather leggings which she first wore at last year's Easter Sunday service.
She cooridanted the outfit with her navy CH Carolina Herrera 'Baret' flap clutch bag and classic Magrit leather pumps.

I love it! I love it! I love it! These last 4-5 combinations she wore are just great. She is by far the best dressed royal, modern, chic but always polite. I love when she wears lether.

I think this is the worst outfit I have ever seen on Letizia. The blue leather pants are too short and the bunching up around the knees give the outfit a very messy look. I must say the top is very original but what is it? It's like the designer couldn't make up their mind as to what kind garment they wanted. It's too complicated and busy. I don't know if it's a jacket with an attached skirt or a coat. Or is it a dress with a fringe? I guess it's whatever you want it to be. And to me it is a disaster. Too many fringes all over the place and going in different directions. Lately, It's been one disappointment after another with Letizia. If she keeps this up I will have to find another style icon!

Sandy, I totally agree with everything you've said. I'd call this look a hot mess. You summed it up perfectly in your question, "What is it?' Letizia is usually stylish but not goofy. This top has no direction and has too much happening. Let's hope she doesn't choose to repeat it.

Laura, a "hot mess" is bang on. I think if they removed that funny "skirt" thing at the bottom it would have looked more like a blazer and that would have been a big improvement. Change the leather leggings to trousers or skinny pants and you might have a winner.

100%. I like modern and avant garde but the shape of the dress is singularly unflattering. It looks like she has tied some kind of rug around her hips. And the fringe is just a mess.

Hey Genevieve, let's hang in there with Letizia. She is still a lovely and elegant lady and I'm sure she will come up with some great outfits here and there. Like you said it could be a phase.

This coat is amazing. Letizia looks so beautiful, modern, chic. I don't like the shoes though, they are too plain for such an elaborated look.

It has been customized, the fringes on the chest have been cut and a trim and the wrist has been added.

Yes, the off-the-rack version is identical to Letizia's so it hasn't been customised as some media outlets and blogs are claiming. Xx

This is a miss for me too. Just kind of a disaster. The coat looks confused, too many design elements. Kudos to Letizia for being brave enough to wear it, but yeah, it's not good.

This outfit has caused some controversy! I actually like this outfit. It's a little edgey for a Royal, without being over the top. Quite honestly, minus the heals and the price tag, it's an ensemble I would wear, and I would wear jeggings not the leather pants. I've never been into leather pants.

Well, this is very different that’s for sure. I’m not sure I’m a fan. I think it’s too outside the box for my taste, but she always looks great.

Live the clutch and wished that she would use it more often.

I love the outfit as a whole, especially the combination of tweed and leather! It's great she went for all navy, rather than add black elements.

I want to like this Herrara jacket but find I can't quite make it. I love tweed contrasts and fun fringes but the placing of the bulky tweed is all on wrong on the hips, where no woman really needs it. It looks better in the studio shot but then that's been styled and posed and Letizia is moving around in the real world. I think she was right to team it with the leather Uterque leggings, they make an excellent contrast, and it makes a snappy outfit on the whole.
