This is the first occasion we have seen Queen Letizia wear this dress which featured almost 10 years ago on the designer's Fall 2013 runway.

It is characterized by a keyhole neckline with a modified mandarin collar, and ruched shoulders with embellishments. The wide inset waist has a folded effect, and the skirt has a trumpet flare.  The dress was shown without the shoulder embellishments in the Fall 2013 Lookbook.

I like this dress with the exception of the pin on embellishments. I always love it when the dress, shoes, purse (and hat if worn) are all the same colour tone. The pleating on the waistline is especially pleasing.

I agree Laura. I think the dress looks more refined without the embellishments. I hope they are removable!

I love this dress. The design is so unique and interesting, unlike anything I have seen before. The shade of blue is very beautiful. But because of all the unusual details (keyhole neckline, flared skirt, puffy sleeves, ruffled waistband), I prefer it without the shoulder embellishments. It's just a bit overwhelming and unnecessary. I'm glad Letizia dropped the belt that is shown on the model.

This is a beautifully crafted dress; the color is sublime. The skirt has movement with I love. It has some very interesting features, which are eye catching. The color of the accessories are perfect. The aquamarine an diamond earrings are divine.

It was said that Carolina Herrera 'imagined a heroine of the 1940s' for Her Fall 2013 collection. For me, this look may be too literal with its historical reference, but I appreciate that this is a very polished look from the Queen. The colour of the dress and coordinating accessories is stunning. I've read (I can't remember where) that the trio of embellished flowers may represent Germany's national flower, the cornflower. The deep pleated wasp-waist creates an attractive hourglass silhouette. Fit is impeccable, the crepe moulds to the wearer's curves before cascading into a gracefully flared hem which brings a pleasing sense of weight during motion. From afar the ruched sleeves add interest to the outline of the dress. Styling-wise, the sleek ponytail allows one to admire the beautifully curved mandarin-like collar and seaming that runs the length of the bodice. It has been reported that Letizia suffers from pain in Her feet, so I wish she would consider slightly lower heels. The vast majority of Her shoes from Magrit are bespoke (Magrit may have moulds of Her feet). I think it is likely that they would accommodate lower heels into the design request. The top handle on the clutch is a particularly charming detail and adds to the retro-inspired theme.

I like the basic Herrera dress very much, the colour is excellent on Letizia and the keyhole buttoned neckline with raised collar and the ruched shoulders on elbow length sleeves are exceptionally pretty. I also very much like the folded waistband detail and am glad the heavy belt was left off. The trumpet flare skirt is most attractive.

Where I personally come unstuck is with the embellishments, but maybe only for private use. In fact the floral-style decorations look in context in a formal memorial setting with its own wealth of floral arrangements. The Magrit accessories are a perfect match, and I admire how both bag and pumps have ribbed detailing which chimes with the waist folds on the dress. The Bulgari aquamarine hoops remain completely wonderful and are perfect here.
