It's a great design so I can understand Letizia buying more than one of this dress. I often purchase multiples of items I love in different colours. After a series of very unusual and different designs I'm happy to see Letizia return to the classic minimalist style that suits her the best. Some watchers have criticized her for the 'blazer over the shoulders' look. I have to agree it does look better worn with the arms inserted in the sleeves.

Really nice dress, blazer and accessories. However, I don't get the "jacket over the shoulders" look. Letizia really needs to put her arms into the sleeves of the jacket for a better arrival presentation.

The jacket over the shoulder look. I'm not fond of it. It's a good outfit just not the jacket over the shoulder thing. Between the jade dress or the white dress, I think I like the white dress more. The belt buckle really stands out. Although, I much prefer both dresses to not have the awkward vertical seams that runs from the waist to the hem.

A beautiful dress, fit and length are perfect. The addition of the belt for both dresses finishes the dress completely. The jacket is beautifully tailored. Black sling back pumps, love them.

I don't get the jacket-over-shoulder look. If she really wanted something to cover her shoulders, Letizia could have opted for her Zara cape instead. That would have been more refined. Otherwise, she looks professional and the dress is lovely.

I love the jacket over the shoulder, it reminds me the elegance of women years ago. My mum, grandma and aunts always did that when they wanted to cover theirs arms at church and in fact there was not chilly.

I have always seen that in this country, even at my wedding my husband's aunt wore the jacket like that and she is a very elegant woman.

It must be another cultural difference.

It is as normal in this country that even I would not speak about it.

I do it even when I am at a place when I do not know where I could leave the coat, or when it is a bit chilly but not so much....

In Spain there is even an idiom "echarse algo por encima"...and with cardigans, in Italy women do it as well. It is very Sofia Loren.

I think I have seen it in France and Italy too.

Ooohh, thank you, Simone, I like catching little Spanish phrases! And like you, Wendy, I don't think the jacket over the shoulders is at all unusual. What I do find unusual is the Duchess of Sussex forever wearing heavy coats over her shoulders, which looks too cumbersome. But a classy well-cut blazer like this is par for the course as far as I'm concerned :) And only done occasionally it becomes stylish.

Jackets/coats being worn over the shoulders like a cape can be polarising, but in general I am a big fan. I think the blazer looks stylish draped over the dress, the overall effect is far lighter than if she had worn it. When the 'Alitas' was last worn in Geneva over the Hugo Boss plaid sheath (21/05/19) I thought it looked heavy and long, here it appears effortless and showcases her slim figure. I particularly like the subtle detail of the silver trimmings at the pockets and cuffs which reflect the light and add interest. The white dress is classic and the overall tone is chic, generally I'm not keen on royals buying the same item in multiple colours, as they have so many options at their disposal. For business wear, I don't mind so much, trousers, shirts, shoes etc but not statement dresses. Putting my bias to one side, this is a great minimal look, which I prefer to both the jade appearances, as the modern styling is far superior, than the knotted Magrit accessories worn previously. The black buckle of the belt and sophisticated line of the slingbacks pull the whole ensemble together.

In this case the black blazer worn with her arms in the sleeves would have been too heavy, I would have thought. It would have looked too uniform with the white dress and dangerously close to a stewardess work outfit.

Both versions of this dress offer the clean lines, definition at the waist and the opportunity to highlight them with the chosen accessories. A minimalist, but well executed look in black and white for the start of a state visit.
The coat over the shoulders look goes back to the days of glamorous society ladies who wore their expensive 'statement' coats like this. Anyone can stand around with their arms in their coat sleeves. It takes a bit of elegance and panache to wear it this way without fear of it falling off at any second. The Zara cape at its price point would be unsuitable for the wife of the head of state to wear for the occasion and would have a different effect.

Love Letizia's travel looks, and very impressed at how she makes the same dress in a different colour capture a fresh vibe. I loved the jade HB Dadoria, which was summery and sweet for Argentina. Now in white against a black shrug-style jacket, it looks very much the part for another state outing perhaps to a more formal schedule than with her Argentinian friend.

This time the black belt buckle stands out proud but not over-bold with the support of the Boss blazer and its small lines are neatly caught in the strap of the CH slingbacks. The neat Astrud clutch is a good size, as more black would have been too heavy, and is relieved by its gilt strip across the front flap. With businesslike stud earrings this is very nicely done.
