The King and Queen of Spain presided over the opening ceremony of the exhibition 'Berlanguiano. Luis García Berlanga (1921-2021)', on the centenary of his birth, at the Headquarters of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, Madrid.
Luis García-Berlanga Martí (1921 - 2010), was a Spanish film director and screenwriter. Throughout Berlanga's career, he won many prestigious awards including the Prince of Asturias Award for Arts in 1986. The exhibition identifies the evolution of Luis García Berlanga's cinematographic career and, in parallel, moments of Spanish life portrayed by national and international photographers who looked at and interpreted that autochthonous reality at the time. Promoted by the Film Academy, the exhibition presents the filmmaker as one of the most significant authors of 20th-century Spanish culture and shows the creator of unforgettable stories and characters through his films.
Their Majesties received a guided tour of the exhibition that consists of photographs, audiovisual material, scripts, posters and filming plans by the curator Esperanza G. Claver. Concluding their visit, the King and Queen conversed with the relatives of Luis García Berlanga, Spanish cinema personalities and guests.
Queen Letizia debuted a vibrant pink dress by Hugo Boss. It is the 'Dellisi' style from the BOSS Womenswear line. The lightweight maxi-length dress, crafted in silk georgette is inspired by the season's boho trend. It is fashioned with ruched detailing and a tiered skirt with a voluminous A-line shape. A cord belt trimmed with signature hardware adds definition and impact at the waist of this statement piece.

She finished the eye-catching ensemble with her bezel set diamond earrings.

It is perhaps a little tragic that I am of sufficient vintage to have lived through the tidal wave of tiered skirts that hit fashion way back in the 1980s. Their novelty has well worn off for me and I would be glad never to see another and to say goodbye to this current boho trend.

I agree Bertie that the Ying and Yang difference of the two dresses is off the charts.

It's great to see such a vibrant colour on Letizia for a change. This shade of pink is very vivid and striking. I like the tiered skirt and the sleeves rolled up make it an ideal dress for spring/summer. The fuchsia slingbacks are in a darker shade of pink so the outfit has some interesting contrast.

I have never liked tiered skirts, so this dress, is a miss for me. IMO, it appears a heavy dress, or swamped as Bertie described. Regardless of my personal tastes, the Queen looks lovely. Glorious shade of pink shoes, a divine splash of colour.

This dress is far too BoHo for my tastes, but that might be because I am of the era that remembers this style from the 80s. The colour is striking and the shoes are a bold statement. I have to say that Letizia looks better in this outfit than the model does.

As someone who usually favours clean lines, I am surprised by how much I am enjoying this dress. It's not for everyone, and I wouldn't look twice at it in-store. The combination of sumptuous fuschia silk and the romantic tiered skirt reminds me of fragrant blowsy roses, summer, and optimism. As the product information states, the dress is 'boho style'. Hugo Boss intended the dress to be worn loose like the stock photographs above, where the belt sits casually on the hips. The Queen has tried to create a more formal look by cinching in the waist. This has resulted in too much fabric in the blouse and the skirt hanging badly. On Getty, you can see that the tiers droop down at the back and that the back is longer than the front. Since it's the skirt I like, I wish the fabric skimmed the body to the tops of the thighs before gradually flaring out into the skirt. I would have also preferred a simpler neckline, either a low V or wrap style, along with slim three quarter length sleeves. Letizia's minimal accessories and polka straight hair add refinement to the otherwise busy look.
