I apologise in advance for my negativity, but I strongly dislike this outfit, it borders on garish. (I'm not suggesting that the Queen was trying to draw attention to herself, she was stood and sat in front of a large red/orange board in many of the photographs and blended into the backdrop.) The voluminous effect of the sleeves is emphasized further by the fitted pencil skirt, which makes the Queen appear top-heavy. I find the shiny neon satin overwhelming against the dense print of the jacquard skirt. The excessive blouson sleeves are particularly unflattering from the side, and the heavy folds at the shoulders pull her down. Some high-end designers are artfully exaggerating the sleeves (I appreciate that these blouses are very expensive), they are usually made in buttery silk and often styled with wide-leg trousers in muted tones to balance the dramatic form of the blouse. The effect can be utterly luxurious. Zara accompanied their blouse with a black, boxy, mini skirt and monochrome heels, which appeared vibrant and youthful - similar styling would be inappropriate for the Queen. This style of blouse can be exquisite at a hefty price tag, Zara's blouse translates well in posed look book photographs, but it is essentially a fun going out top that looks awkward styled for workwear.

At first glance I did not like this blouse at all. But after taking a second look I came to appreciate it. First of all the burnt orange colour is beautiful and a welcome change from all the black & white lately. The puffy sleeves and voluminous style of the blouse help balance the tight fit of the pencil skirt. I'm amazed how the sleeves drape across the shoulder. Even though I could NEVER wear this blouse I appreciate how the design is unique & creative. It reminds me of the TV shows Dallas & Dynasty that were very popular in the 1980's and 1990's. Not too many women could pull off this style so it's a credit to Letizia. She can make any garment look good.

Hi Sandy, I love your comment! it's so interesting to read differing takes on an ensemble. I'm pleased you enjoyed this outfit and hope others do also! I googled this blouse and found an image of a lady who had pulled the cuffs up to just below the elbows, it created a very interesting effect. In doing this, the cuffs were hidden and the sleeves finished at a three-quarter length. If Letizia re-wears this blouse I would like to see her try something similar.

Hi Jennifer. I think I found the image you were referring to. The model wore this blouse with white pants and a brown belt. You're right. It looked really fantastic! The blouse took on a whole different look. I hope Letizia will wear it this way in the future. We will have to watch and wait. Obviously, this is a popular piece because it's sold out.

Hi Sandy, great find, that's the exact image I was referring too. By the looks of it, it was worn on a TV show and I think a few style influencers may have highlighted it.

This look is a total miss for me. Orange is a very difficult colour to wear and this firey orange looks gaudy. The sleeves overpower the entire outfit. The skirt looks cheap. Letizia usually gets it right, but this is a rather brassy outfit for a Queen.

A very distinctive, individual look and different. The Queen wears it well. The more I looked at it, the better it really appealed to me. The smouldering orange colour is extradionry, combined with the colours of the pencil skirt to me works well. Gathering / arranging of the sleeves at the shoulder looks so soft looking. The ample and generous sleeves are steadied and stabilized by the skirt. The diamond crawlers, love them, less is more. This outfit too, reminds me of something worn by Joan Collins or Linda Evans characters in Dynasty.

HI Ava, just come to offer my heartfelt thanks for your comment as having just read the others I find myself completely out of synch with them!! It struck me as a very happy match too, I missed the brassy/garish memo -- apologies to Lauren and Jennifer! -- and quite fell for the combination. I thought the sleeves quite Queenly as they reference aristocratic styles of earlier centuries. I can see where Jennifer is coming from about some of the shoulder folds which don't sit as well as they might in finer fabric, but I was taken up with the fun aspect of the outfit.

Hi Bertie, Thank you, Oh, yes, I know what you mean! The grandness of the sleeves is what appealed to me. The side profile pic 3 re: shoulder fold aspect good example though, agree, not sitting well.

Such a simple, snappy outfit, I just love it!! The nippy Roberto Verino pencil skirt is a terrific imaginative take on black-and-white, and the addition of the astonishing Zara shirt is genius. Such a welcome change to see the monochrome contrasted with brilliant orange, and the voluminous sleeves are inspired against the tight fit of the skirt. I think Zara was represented at the event.
