Queen Letizia was on hand this evening to present two Spanish children/youth literature awards, 'El Barco de Vapor' and 'Gran Angular'.

Her Majesty looked chic in black and white separates for the occasion.
She debuted the Hugo Boss 'Juxtiny' blazer (£399) - a tuxedo-inspired jacket crafted in a wool-blend. This single-breasted design is detailed with satin at the peak lapels and collar. This blazer is finished with fabric-covered buttons at the centre front and cuffs. The style also comes in black.
Underneath the blazer Queen Letizia wore a white satin lace-trimmed camisole, first seen during last year's State Visit to Peru.
She contrasted the white with a new pair of black silky trousers which I have not been able to identify.
We saw the return of the Bottega Veneta's iconic 'Knot' clutch and Manolo Blahnik 'Gotrianc' Slingbacks 105 heels.
Queen Letizia accessories with her modern circles link earrings which date back to 2008, and the Karen Hallam ring she debuted yesterday.

It would be hard to imagine a more complete contrast in a single day than Letizia has managed from the earlier glorious Hererra to this deft monochrome ensemble. She is truly a chameleon queen and mistress of both styles. The Boss tux is a winner and the trousers taken to another feminine level by the simple use of silky fabric. The narrow leg is so chic. The small points of contrast all finish the look perfectly; the lace trim on the top, the textured weave of the clutch and the finishing sparkle from the strappy shoes. Her hair continues to look wonderful these days.

Bertie, I have to ask the question....do you comment on WKW and WMW under a different name. If not, your writing style is so very similar to that persons.

Oh-oh - I think my cover may have been blown 0_0 It only surprises me I managed to get away with it this long given I frequently repeat whole phrases 😂 For now, I shall just sign off here as The Great Mo! 😉

A very simple ensemble, which is completely appropriate for the event. However, I don't think that it is as stylish as last year. I think it would have had more polish if the camisole didn't have the lace (it's too fussy against it's sleek counterparts) also if it were a more luxurious weight of silk and if it didn't have such an exaggerated sweet-heart neckline. I would have also tucked it loosely into the waistband of the trousers. The trousers are lovely, their fit and soft drape are very flattering and elegant. It's nicely accessorised with modern clean lines in both the shoes and earrings - much like the outfit itself.

This is a beautiful, elegant yet simple and minimalistic outfit. I love tuxedo jackets but I have never seen one in white before. It's hard to see the satin collar in these photographs but that contrast makes it a perfect look for the evening. The camisole is also very pretty and the black satin pants complete the look. Black and white together always looks sharp and sophisticated. It's interesting to see the Queen wearing a ring as she rarely does.

Not much to add to what has been said, but her stylistic turn over the last 6 months or so is interesting to watch. She mixes hi/lo expertly. If the clothes are low cost the earrings are top notch. The more expensive, well cut and well fitting dresses are rotated into the sequence more often. The shoes are fewer, but other brands besides Magrit are making inroads. For added interest, she whips out pieces from many years ago. Instead of 'finding a style' and offering it in various colours like the old guard with their 2 piece suits, she can do different looks to suit the occasion (the hallmark of a creative person) in a short space of time.

Hi Laura, such an interesting post! and I agree with Sandy, such good observations. The last 6 months have been very compelling, so many designers have been showcased and older pieces re-introduced, I do hope that we see more Varela in the not to distant future. I find his pieces either hit or miss, approximately 85% of his looks are hits for me, it's only when some are overly fussy with lots of lace for example that I'm not so keen. But there is not one designer that she patronises regularly that I have loved absolutely everything from. It's been refreshing to see some new shoe designers, I think Magrit pumps work excellently for day wear, but it's been fun to see Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik thrown into the mix especially for evening wear, I hope this continues. It makes perfect sense sustainably that the more expensive pieces are worn in rotation and are classics that can be worn for years to come (I do like to see accessories mixed up on these occasions) I commend Letizia for using the high street as much as she does, her perfect poise makes almost anything look expensive. I agree that she and Eva Fernadez are doing a fantastic job presenting different looks - the Peru state visit in February was a fine example of this. In my opinion Letizia is certainly one of, if not the best dressed royal, she is consistent, relatable and exciting.

The Queen looks stylish and chic. I like this outfit, the jacket is lovely. The pants are beautifully cut and fit her so well.

They are wrong. The collar does not match and Letizia's jacket has four buttons at the cuff. I've checked all the details and it's definitely the Hugo Boss jacket I found.
