Note from the editor:

Moving forward, this will be the new format of the Queen Letizia Style blog.  Sadly I am finding less time to devote to the blog and this format ensures I get the posts up quickly with all the important style details presented in a simple format but without descriptive text.  I want to keep this blog going for as long as possible and I hope this new format will provide a way for me to do it efficiently. Please let me know what you think.

I reacted badly to this coat on its first outing and it doesn't seem so bad this time. Perhaps there's better definition in a different setting but it's beginning to look like something an adult could wear rather than a child at kindergarten.

But it remains an odd coat with that fussy floral print which fails to register as more than dots once the viewer is some feet away. The empire line and the buttons ending so high continue to give it a juvenile feel. Love the updo, earrings and shoes!!

I feel this outfit is inappropriate for such a serious and solemn event.
I don't know why Letizia would drag it out to wear again only one month after she wore it last. She has so many beautiful clothes that this one should be given away to charity or whatever she does with old clothes. It was not a successful outfit according to most Leti watchers. Does anyone know what the Royals do with their old clothes??.

The girlish silhouette of this coat is all the more surprising because Letizia had such excellent outfits the previous two years - fierce (in a good way!) in 2016 and simply stylish in 2017. I love the look-back galleries for the big events, Elizabeth, so it's great that you're planning to continue with them in the new format. This is such a meticulous and charming blog - thank you!

Elizabeth, sorry but can you explain what you mean by "new format"? I must have missed something. I didn't notice any changes. Thanks.

The new format has less detail. For each engagement I will just list each piece of Letizia's outfit but not offer details about the event, product, brand etc etc. In short, there will be less descriptive text. I hope this clears up your confusion! xx

Thanks for clarifying. I understand it takes a lot of time to put all that information together. I new format is fine. I love your blog!!

Letizia's coat matches the dress of the Lady on the right side of her. When I first saw the coat I thought umm, no. But it grows on me. Maybe this pattern is a new trend?

Thank you very much for this information. I did look if her name and/or position was mentioned somewhere, but did not find anything. You see, I'm not from Spain.

Elisabeth, please delete my other reply, since I attached it at the wrong place. Thank you.

Going against almost all of the comments on this outfit. I like it. The cut is really flattering and the print and colour is fresh and pretty. Its nice to see a little bit of whimsy yet the outfit is respectful and elegant at the same time.

Totally agree!! It's a festival, not very respectful outfits needed. You can see the Minister of Defence in red and white, one of the most powerful woman in the country has a bit of cleavage, formal or not so much?? I think some people mix it up with the remembrances in the Commonwealth's, this is another thing.

You're welcome Claudia. Protocol is very complicated, sometimes she must wear long clothes even in the morning, in the Pascua Militar, because it's a historical memory from 1792...
Letizia is only the Consort, as the Mayor of the city and the Minister of Defence are women, they mark the protocol in these festivity parades..

And a great part of the country is against this protocol because is seen as outdated and the monarchy seems less close. Felipe VI is managing it well..

Hi Elizabeth. The new format is just fine with me. I think most will agree that we are just grateful you're doing it in the first place - if you need to change formats to make it easier for you, then by all means, do so. Thank you for providing the blog. It brings a lot of enjoyment

I really do not like this coat. Looks like a little girls coat. Maybe a skirt underneath in the same colour that hides the knees will give a more adult feel. She does not have a signature style and her sometimes too short dresses makes me not think of her as a Queen. For me a Queen dresses more elegant, too much leg is a no. I would love to see a style develop but it looks like she is just all over with her style.
