I saw this dress hanging up in my local dry cleaners several months ago and I was surprised by how nice it was in person. The snakeskin print is fluid and the cold palette prevents heaviness. The fine fabric allows utility style details on the busy print, which adds interest to the clean lines. There are smudges of tan throughout which are beautifully coordinated with the toffee coloured slingbacks. I much prefer these to the burgundy ankle strap shoes worn previously, they look effortless and elongate the look. I think this dress looks best in motion when the 'chiffon like' fabric is moving elegantly around her. I saw another stock photograph of this dress and the styling was great. We are gradually entering autumn now but the sleeves were neatly folded up above the elbow and the dress had been accessorised with a medium width, navy, woven belt with a gold buckle, it looked quite chic. I can imagine the Queen replicating something similar in the spring with navy pumps.

So insightful to get the feedback on the dress in real life, I think you've answered all the points I was unhappy with. It's perhaps a tricky one to photograph and loses character in pictures as a result. I'm glad to hear it's as lovely as you say :)

Hi Bertie, I wasn't entirely sure about this dress the first time, but seeing it in person definitely improved my opinion of it. You are absolutely right that bolder earrings would have enhanced the look, maybe some simple silver or good hoops...

Sandy:

I hate the print of the dress. It's hideous. It looks like she got swallowed by a cobra snake.

I hate the colour of the dress. It's so dark and depressing.

I hate the shape of the dress. It does nothing for her figure. Drags her down.

I hate the coordinating of the colour of the dress with the shoes' colour. They don't go well together. Black/grey with tan? No!

I hate the overall look of this QL outfit. Why would anyone buy this nevermind put it on and think it looks good?!

In one word:

No.

Karen, thanks for elaborating. And I agree 100%. I especially like the "swallowed by a cobra" comment. Very imaginative.

You're welcome Sandy. Thanks for asking me to elaborate. At first, I just didn't have the words to do so to describe something I dislike so much.

While I like the style and fit of this dress I find the snake print a bit overpowering & overwhelming. I'm not crazy about reptile prints. Maybe it's because of my fear of snakes. I respect them as animals but I prefer to keep my distance-literally and fashion wise.

I like the style of this dress but find the all over snake print to be too much. Also, I don't think the camel shoes are the best with this dress. They don't clash; they just don't enhance.

Elizabeth, a small point: Since Letizia seems to be wearing this ring at every outing, I don't think it is necessary to keep describing it. I checked your Kate and Meghan blogs and you don't repeatedly mention the wearing of their wedding or engagement rings. Letizia doesn't wear matrimonial rings, but this silver ring has become her staple ring seen so many times.

You make a valid point Laura. Since this is not a marital ring but rather a fashion accessory I thought to include it every time it was worn. But it has become monotonous to always make mention of it. I would be keen to see what others think. Should I stop mentioning it?

I don't mind myself as I suppose I'm sort of waiting to see if we ever discover its backstory and origin! But I fully appreciate anyone tired of seeing the repeat in the post and can quite see it could do with a rest for a while, with a starring role on return with its provenance.

As I said before in Spain we really think it is a Leonor's and Sofia's gift, thing it is very important for a mother....most that a weddind ring nobody wears in Spain or engagenent which nobody owns...(as I explained before it is only something we have seen in English spoken movies)....
So she follows the Spanish traditions....everybody knows that you are married because they attended the ceremony, no rings necessary.
Also until the 60s-70s, women used to dress in black short dressed as a bride....our culture is different.

Ps: I am with Elizabeth, it is fashion..so I like to know it..

If it would save you some time and effort than by all means don't include it in all posts.

I really love her shoes. The dress is okay, but the shoes are adorable.

I'm not enjoying this Dutti dress on its second outing, I think it had its place as accompaniment to the lovely Herrera coat last time, but I don't think it works as a stand-alone. I like the print very much, but I'm finding the shirtwaister too loose and baggy, and the hem seems to hang badly in some pictures.

The slingbacks are a favourite of mine but it's hard to see any colour in the print pattern that they pick up, so in photos at least, they seem out of place. The dull grey print doesn't look flattering on Letizia, and even her earrings are disappearing into insignificance today. A hump-day outfit perhaps.

I actually like this ensemble. I'm not usually one for animal prints of any kind but I like snakes and the colour is subdued so I find it exciting. You can see in the photos of the model that the dress has tan in it, which explains the choice of shoe colour though I would've preferred black or silver pumps. That said, I think the tan suede boots on the model look fantastic with the dress though not for this occasion of course. Since the dress is busy, I think an updo would've been perfect.

The Queen looks lovely, I like the flow and fall of the dress, but this is a rare miss for me. Not a fan of snake print. Her shoes are gorgeous, beautiful shade.

Hello Elizabeth and thank you for your blog, is really nice and SO accurate! A pleasure to read! I just wanted to advice that the look described in this post dies not appear in the outfit recap page... just in case you want to fix it. Thanks again for your wonderful job!
