Queen Letizia joined King Felipe today for the official opening of the 37th ARCO International Contemporary Art Fair at the Ifema exhibition site in Madrid.
The event attracts collectors, curators, museum directors, gallery owners, artists and professionals from all around the world, which makes the show a unique and unmissable event on the international art calendar. Their Majesties enjoyed mingling with the exhibitors.
The Spanish Queen sported a bright red ensemble today, making it easy to spot her amongst the large crowds.
This new outfit consists of a chiffon blouse with long billow sleeves and a matching midi skirt. Unfortunately, we are yet to establish the brand/designer of the separates.
The look was coordinated with her red Carolina Herrera 'Maysa' snakeskin clutch bag and red suede Magrit 'Francesca' over-the-knee boots (US$688).
Letizia wore her hair in a loose bun and finished the outfit with her Gold & Roses Double Dagger Earrings.
It is somewhat of a tradition for Letizia to premier an outfit at this annual art exhibition. Here's a look back at her previous ARCO ensembles. Do you have a favourite?

Letizia wore those boots before as part of an all red ensemble. It's a great colour on her, but I find it a bit strong. The clutch bag is gorgeous .

For some reason Letizia really wanted to stand out from the crowd at this event. The individual pieces are nice on their own but all together it is too hard on the eyes. I do think the sleeves of the top are way too long for her and the skirt length is matronly. Red is one of her favorite colours but this is too much of a good thing.

I agree with you Sandy. This is all just too much. I can understand wanting to make a statement, but that could be achieved with the boots alone! Funny, I was reading an article explaining how Letizia was known for her impeccable tailoring and it showed a picture of her in this red ensemble with the too long sleeves of this blouse and the article's point was lost because this blouse is not well tailored

Iberia, I saw that Zara model. It's similar and styled in the same way, but the Zara model has gathered details on the blouse and skirt, whereas Letizia's does not x

Vanessa, at one time Letizia's clothes fit her like a glove. I used to think the designers or stores where they were purchased altered them so they fit her perfectly. She is so tiny I don't think even the smallest size 0 would fit her. But lately I think she grabs them right off the rack and doesn't care about tailoring.

Iberia, the blouse is different too. The Zara one has drop shoulder seams and the neckline & yoke are gathered whereas Letizia's is smooth with no seams or pleats.

All the pieces of the outfit are great, but it overwhelming with too much red. Black, grey or navy accessories would have been better.

I agree that it is too much red and that the sleeves of the top are too long. I think the red boots would stand out more against a black or print skirt. She could also have worn a patterned scarf to break up all that red.

Lynn, I was thinking the same thing....that a black skirt would have improved the outfit dramatically.

I can’t copy the link but have a look at the Hobbs ss18 lookbook Ruby Red dress. It’s a close match!

Definitely too much red the top, skirt and clutch were fine but if she just has swapped the boots for a pair of silver sandels or something this look would have been much better.

I like the skirt, but the blouse is just too big. I like this shade of red - not tomato, but crimson, at least in your pictures, Elizabeth. And I agree with those of you who think this outfit is overwhelmingly red.

Yeah, way too much red for me. I like 2009 and 2011 outfits. I like that she paired the red outfit in 2011 with gray. I like the blouse if the sleeves were a little more tailored instead of so long. I like each of the pieces of this outfit and would love to see them mixed and matched with other outfits. The nice thing about red, is you can match it with so many colors. Black, gray, navy, ivory, jeans...I hope we see these items again with some new colors :)

Does anyone else agree with me that Letitia's face looks different. Has she changed her make-up in some way? Her eyes seem altered. The overall look is quite vampish with all that red plus red lipstick.

Letizia seems addicted to cosmetic procedures. Rumours say botox, fillers and of course a nose job. If you look at pictures of her from 2004 she looks like a totally different person. I think that is why her face is always changing. It is a pity because she is still quite young. I hope she doesn't ruin her face because she is very attractive.

The Rinoplasthy of the nose in 2008 was needed to improve her breathing, then a chin surgery, because it was pretty prominent, later botox, and other treatments, what began as a necessity has become into an habit.

Thanks for the suggestion Edith. I did see that style a few days ago but ruled it out because the fabric is too thick and it has seamed panels whereas Letizia's is more fluid and seamless.

Hahaha, I'll see what I can find. I'm a little inundated with trying to keep up with all of my three royal fashion blogs but when I get a free moment I'll try piece together a look for less x
