The King and Queen of Spain visited the Real Fábrica de Tapices (Royal Tapestry Factory), on the occasion of its 300th anniversary in Madrid.
The Royal Tapestry Factory was founded by Felipe V in 1721, it is a leading historical manufactory in the field of luxury textile manufacturing and restoration of carpets and tapestries. Since its inception, the Royal Tapestry Factory has played a fundamental role in the conservation of the Spanish textile heritage, actively participating in the development of procedures and technologies for the restoration of historical fabrics.
Their Majesties toured the Royal Tapestry Factory and had the opportunity to see masters and artisans work with the same centuries-old techniques that have made the centenary factory an international benchmark.

The Queen has some gorgeous skirts: the navy pleated Carolina Herrera skirt 01/02/18, the Hugo Boss 'Marala' pencil skirt worn in Japan 06/04/17 and the BOSS 'Viphima' skirt with jacquard inserts 18/11/16, all of which have been worn once. I rarely like asymmetrical hemlines, so it's disappointing to see this Massimo Dutti skirt worn repeatedly. In addition, you can see in the video that the fabric pulls across the lower back. To my knowledge, asymmetrical hemlines are not a big trend for spring/summer 2021, so I hope Letizia starts to re-wear some of the older pieces in her wardrobe which are beautifully made and are timeless in style. Or, if Letizia wants to promote the Inditex brands, that's great, there are other options available - the smart blue knitted dress which has only been worn once 12/06/20 which would have been appropriate for this event.

The Queen looks lovely in this ensemble. I dont like these type of hemlines, so the skirt is a miss for me. Love the black, luscious Sandro silk shirt. Glorious to see the Dagger earrings. I do love the Queen's hair up in a bun.

Letizia looks very professional and appropriate for the occasion whether you like her choice or not. I personally prefer color to mainly black, but that doesn't mean I am going to say she looks inappropriate for the event.

Somehow this type of hemline looks better on a lighter more "fun" skirt, or perhaps a summer dress. A wool skirt in a check or tartan, needs a more traditional hem. I like the rest of the outfit.

A handy working outfit which delivers each time. The angular hemline is well handled on this Dutti style, being restricted to the sides and keeping the front and back straight. Unfortunately this can still lead to a drooping appearance which seems more marked as the style goes out of fashion.
