After the initial greetings, the King and Queen moved to the central patio where readings were read and a video was screened of the poet Francisco Brines Bañó, Miguel de Cervantes 2020 prize winner, reading a poem. Their Majesties saw the exhibition 'Los Libros de Jesús Munarriz' in the Patrimonial Library of the Cervantes Institute and unveiled a commemorative plaque marking their visit. Before leaving they conversed with guests; including authors and editors.

The idea 'Book Day' originated from Spanish writer Vicente Clavel Andrés as a way to honour Miguel de Cervantes (author of Don Quixote), first on the 7th of October, his birth date, then on the 23rd of April, his death date. In 1995 UNESCO decided that World Book and Copyright Day, would be celebrated on the 23rd of April, the date is thought to be the anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.

The contrast in colour between the winter white coat and cobalt blue dress is stunning. Where the coat is worn over the Queen's shoulders it keeps the lines long and clean, rather than having the bulk of two waist ties worn over one another.  Sadly on the second viewing of the dress, the material appears quite thin. The outline of Letizia's bra can be seen in most photographs (I appreciate that the bodice is skin-tight), and the skirt doesn't flow into a smooth fluted circle. When Letizia is without the coat her perfect posture and gorgeous accessories bring finesse to the dress.

This is a beautiful, subtle, elegant dress, it fits splendidly. The colour is superb, suits the Queen well. The coordinating pumps look lovely. Its fabulous to see the Bvlgari diamond and aquamarine earrings again, they hold such beauty, I love them.
