The King and Queen of Spain continued their tour to all of the Autonomous Communities with a day trip to La Rioja. The objective is to support the recovery of social, economic and citizen activity following the COVID-19 lockdown.

Their Majesties day began with a visit to Haro Estación Enológica (Haro Wine Station) located in the heart of Haro. The Haro Wine Station was founded in 1892, as a research centre for Rioja wine, with the aim to expand into new markets and update Rioja winemakers on new methods of winemaking.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia moved to R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia - the oldest in Haro and one of the first houses in the Rioja region. Their Majesties toured the oldest area of the underground galleries and were informed of the development processes and facilities. Before leaving, the royal couple held a meeting with representatives from the wine sector.
The King and Queen travelled to Santo Domingo de la Calzada, the town that enters the Camino de Santiago, known as the Way of St. James, a network of pilgrimages leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great. They concluded their day visiting the Roman Catholic Catedral de Santo Domingo de la Calzada.

Queen Letizia wore a black fine knit top and slim trousers which she offset with her Uterqüe 'Ethnic collection' jacket.

I love this Uterque piece, simply my favourite style of jacket, ideal for the petite I suppose, with the neat rounded corners on the edge-to-edge. So easy to throw on for casual or smart, looks great with a skirt, or as here, with a fine tailored pair of pants.

I love the earth-tone colours in the bold stripes, which have enough range from warm to cool to be ultra adaptable. I'm very happy to see Letizia in long leg slim pants a style which I don't think can be improved on despite fashion decrees. And the black Castaner espadrilles are really earning their keep on the latest of this huge round of nationwide royal visits. With their straps covered, they are on the way to looking like a half-decent shoe!

I agree Bertie- it is a breath of fresh air to see a nice pair of tailored trousers instead of those god-forsaken culottes which are trending now! Being petite myself, I would wear this outfit.

I've always liked this jacket. But I wish Letizia would have paired it with an ivory skirt or pants like the model. That would have made it more summery. The black is too harsh for the heat of summer. And she always wore it with black in the past so ivory/white would have been a refreshing change.

I think this may be Their Majesties 8th visit to the 17 Autonomous Communities. This is the Queen's heaviest ensemble yet, I assume that the north is currently cooler than other regions recently visited. Compared to the ladies attire in the videos, Letizia is missing some summer colour but the burgundy and gold pop beautifully against the black basics. The palette reminds me of red and white wines which feels apt for the day's engagements. The stripes align sensitively across the jacket and the leather trim neatly outlines the boxy shape.  For me, this is one of the strongest looks of the tour, the garments compliment her figure and flow harmoniously. It's always exciting to see Letizia sport a sleek handbag, I find them more modern and relatable for business & casual wear than dainty clutches.
Apologies, I often mention Letizia's blunt bob, it was so stylish! (2015 photograph above). Looking back I think she experimented more with different styles when her hair was shorter. Obviously, now is not the time, and Letizia should have whatever length she is most comfortable with, but I hope she returns to the bob and wears hairpieces (if necessary) for rare tiara events - I'm sure other royals do.

That's right, it is raining in La Rioja, the North is not so hot in summer, very cold in winter, I owns a second residence here, about only 18C degress, even 14C in the night.

I forgot, they have been visiting a wine cellar, it is a lot of cold inside, so she did the correct thing.

Thanks, Wendy, I thought that Letizia would have been uncomfortably hot on Friday if La Rioja was in the mid-20s +.  She looks perfectly attired, and the jacket works beautifully in all of the photographs.  La Rioja looks like a wonderful place to have a second property! I hope you get to enjoy it often!

This Uterque jacket is fabulous. Beautiful rich earthy tones of colour are a nice change and combination. I love the leather trim, it really highlights the perfect shape/outline of the jacket. The black slim fit pants are flawless, the fit and length is spot on. Even the black Wedge Espadrilles look striking with this ensemble.
