On the final day of the Princess of Asturias Awards, King Felipe & Queen Letizia paid a visit to the region of Los Oscos, this year's winner of the Exemplary Town of Asturias Award.
Each year, a town in the Asturias region is recognized for making an extraordinary contribution to protect and conserve the environmental, historical or artistic settings of its surroundings, or carried out exceptional community work.
During their visit the royal couple toured the villages in the region and met with local artisans.
Despite the damp, cloudy day Queen Letizia looked radiant in a bold fuchsia coat by local designer, Marcos Luengo.
This is the first occasion we have seen Letizia sport a garment by the Asturian born designer who operates from a concept store in Oviedo, the capital city of Asturias. Marcos Luengo designs and produces each and every one of his pieces which includes prêt-à-porter, bridal, cocktail, accessories, and furrier. Luengo's style is based on "ethereal and timeless aesthetics". His design philosophy is to "modernise that which is traditional in an elegant and sober manner. Comfortable, while sophisticated and exclusive, lines for modern and pragmatic women".
The boiled wool overcoat is a modified version of the piece below from the designer's FW16 collection. Comparing the two designs, Letizia's coat features a mandarin collar and no front belt buckle detail.
Under the coat Queen Letizia wore a tried and true combination of grey straight-leg trousers with a classic knit top. The burgundy v-neck sweater has a fine cable knit pattern, but I have been unable to identify the brand of the top.
On her feet Letizia wore the same black block heel boots she wore to last year's Exemplary Town of Asturias Award event.
She wore her hair in soft waves, pulling back the front section in a pretty half up-do. Letizia finished the look for her dainty Chanel Comète Earrings.
