I love this white eyelet dress on Letizia. It is perfect vacation style dressing. Can't say I am a big fan of the shoes, but not liking wedges is a personal preference. Her purse is a good choice, as are the earrings. The young princesses are really growing up.

She must wear espadriles as Leonor is wearing "mallorquinas", (the typical shoes worn in the Balearic Islands) they are representing Mallorca and Spain and that's our tradition. Shoes handmade in Spain since ages ago.

How lovely to see the family together and so soon! This is a simple vacation dress, which looks cool and easy to wear. Looking at the look book photos there seems to a dart either side of the buttons under the tie belt which tapers the silhouette, a considered detail which stops the dress from becoming too shapeless. The butterfly earrings work perfectly here. The handbag is a little fancy against the broderie anglaise, in distant shots where the texture of the fabric is less visible and appears to be a plain shirt dress it works better. I may be associating the bag with the formality of the Carolina Herrera black and white stripe flare dress which it has been worn with previously. I did scroll through the Queen's inventory of bags but didn't find anything that I thought would be a better match. A small tan saddle or bucket bag with her white Castaner espadrilles to match the colour of the dress would have worked well - but these are such minor quibbles and I appreciate that she is on holiday.

Good work spotting those bodice darts! That fabric can tend to go a bit shapeless after a while and the shaping is well done. And what I liked about the bag was how simple it was just worn on her shoulder, I would never have recalled the formal wear it was with earlier. For me the one style detail that might have detracted is the tie belt. In that very soft fabric it can all too soon end up looking stringy and there's not much chance of giving it any bulk for better definition. But as you say, our lovely Letizia is on holiday and nit-picking is not allowed!

Hi Bertie, good point about the tie belt. Maybe for dresses such as this, a white or tan standard leather belt would work well once the fabric of the tie has worn a little, as long as it didn't create extra bulk at the waist with the fabric gathering. I think I was being overly sensitive about the bag, it is very plain and in some pictures is almost invisible. I know most royal ladies use clutches, but I love seeing a handbag. I don't mind whether it's a shoulder bag or a tote. In some instances, particularly for casual and business wear, I think it can look far more modern and sophisticated.

I think you'd have to be careful with a leather belt, if too chunky it still wouldn't look quite right. Maybe some kind of weave?

I am obviously a minority here, but I really like wedges, always have, always will, especially these summery ones.
Lovely family, girls are getting so big.

A classic summer choice in a cool fabric and looking lovely on Letizia. The Dominguez shirtwaister style is mercifully free of extra pockets and flaps and instead there's more than enough detail via the embroidery anglaise. A simple white clutch and neutral espadrilles and the Spanish Queen is more than ready to watch a sailing race. Even the cutesy Elena C butterfly earrings look good to me here, echoing the fabric pattern. Cool shades.

The dress looks cool and comfortable. Perfect for a day in the hot sun The espadrille shoes look nice but they look like a lot of work to put on and take off and your feet are trapped it there while they are on. Sorry to all the Spanish ladies on the blog I know they are a tradition. I just like items that are easy care, easy to put on and take off and easy to wear. The CH sunglasses are beautiful

Jumpsuits "work", espadriles "work".....I really do not understand the concept, here we WORK, to be perfect....that's our culture...a person needs an hour to dress up....
Spain is different! That is the slogan for the tourism!! You need to visit us!!! LOL....I can't say anything else...

Simone, it could be be have two different cultures. As I said in some of my other comments people dress very casual. I have seen people walking their dogs in public wearing pyjamas and nightgowns. I'm not joking. I was shocked. So you can imagine they are not going to take the time to wear "complicated" clothes. People in Spain care about their appearance and what they wear and really make an effort to look their best. I personally prefer the Spanish mentality.

Sorry Simone, but that is not specific only for Spain. I am not even close to Spain, and everyone around me is wearing jumpsuits and espadrilles in summer. It's like a usual outfit.

Oh, sorry, I made a mistake here. This supposed to be a comment on the jumpsuit post.

A perfect dress for the days events. Pretty, non fuss, and cool. I am not normally a fan of wedges, but I like them in this instance with this dress. The 2nd photo of mother and daughters is really so nice. Any photos I have seen of the girls their so natural, relaxed and lovely. A credit to their parents.
